Car shat itself!

Hey guys,
Pretty pissed off, come to the conclusion that my cj is a lemon.
Pulled up to the lights (2.0L cvt) and the car starts stuttering in its idle, vibrating rather violently, then the oil light comes on and the engine cut out. Still had electrics power ( headlights radio).
Any ideas why this happened?!
Really considering trading the car in for a Mazda or a Honda, it's proving really unreliable for a new car ( compressor failing, steering is wack etc).
Thanks,
Brian

car ran out of oil? or fuel? stupid questions but need to be asked to eliminate possibilities

It could be a bad batch of fuel or an electrical problem.
Has the car had any mods recently?
Is it still under warranty?

Ring Mitsubishi now and get them to tow it to a dealer and get it fixed under warranty.

Excluding the obvious possibility you have lost the oil sump plug and you have a trail of oil.... Sounds like something has siezed up to cause the erroneous read outs.....
Did you call road service? What's happened? At the end of the day, you're udner warranty and they should fix it. (of coruse warranty does not compensate you for the inconvenience, stress and wasted time).....

Is it an auto????? If not then it sounds like the clutch didn't release and tried to take off without power, like easing the clutch off without using the accelerator..... But im no mechanic
If its an auto it would most likely be one of the computers not talking to one of the others. But this should have shown up on their scanner when they check it.
But let us know how you fair with it.

Brian i'd suggest you take it to sydney mitsubishi they're a good bunch of people to deal with when it comes to warranty claims etc. I had a good experience with them with my warranty claims like my compressor, shock on lowered springs and wear and tear driver seats. All this was claimed under warranty with no quoestions asked.
