I have an sx and it's great on fuel long distance and normal driving. Sits on low 6.0's at 110km/h.
But what I don't like is peak hour traffic on coronation drive. Saw it rise over 20 at some points. :(

My SX sits in the 6s (except when I use E10 when it does low 7s). It was sitting around 10 on Coro Drive and Moggill Rd in traffic the other day. It did around 7.3 getting up there but it was completely full of furniture and boxes and shit.

When I go from Gloucester to Blayney the hilly, winding way it does around 8 but then again it's usually being used as a removal van as well. Fully laden stuffs the fuel economy around a bit. And when I say fully laden I mean fully laden.

That's weird. Cause I don't ride the clutch a whole lot and I stay a fair bit behind other drivers do I don't have to brake constantly and mines sits at about 12/13. The over 20 was constant start/ stopping for over an hour.

I did constant start/stop through roadworks on the Blue Mountains a few months back and got 5.3 :) Couldn't believe it. It was bumper to bumper the whole way. It was like Coro in peak hour for 30km. I was sitting on 6.5 by the time I got to Hornsby and it was around 7 by the time I got home 3 hours later. Twists and turns the last 90 km and Freeway up until then from Hornsby.

I like my Father in laws Peugeot with fuel (don't like the car but the fuel economy is excellent). It regularly gets 4 and under. It is a 307 Tourer Turbo Diesel though. Literally the smell of an oily rag.

I can't seem to get my ES MY12 under 10.0. I'm not even doing anything weird and have no idea how it's rated at 6.9.

The MY12s were supposed to be better than the MY11s on fuel economy. Mine was supposed to be 7.4 I think when I bought it. Or 7.3. Something like that.

I constantly get 6-7. 8s when I'm hauling furniture, boxes and bags in the car not on the freeway and highways and through Sydney. I still get in the 7s when I go down the Hwy and Freeway with my crap. And 10 around Brisbane. Strange because I get 7s around Sydney. Go figure.

Thankfully the truck is here to move the rest of the furniture and bags and boxes so the SX will get a rest after this week. She's earnt it.

If i was you i would take the car back to mitsu and advised them of this as that is not right unless depends on how hard your driving it.

Like I have a 09 vrx and I always sit round 7.4.

one thing i dont like about my lancer is wipers not always turning on when its raining.

That's right Stacey. And mine was doing great from new so it's not like it needs time to settle or anything. Take it to the dealer and complain that it's not doing what it's supposed to. It might just need some tweaking :)

Has anyone mentioned the teeny tiny sun visors which don't block out the sun in the drivers upper right corner of the windscreen yet? It's just silly

I have a couple of suggestions.

Make sure your tyres are inflated to the maximum rating permissible.

Now get onto a clear stretch of free way, when on the screen with the L/100KM bit, press and hold the info button, so it resets, now drive it for abit and see what it says.

When I cruise home on a clear day on the Eastern Freeway here in Melbourne, it's about 15km drive from when I reset, I get a reading of 6.2L/100km. Average speed is about 98km/h.

I experienced the same thing when I had the Platinum CVT. The economy gets better as the kilometres rise.

The 6.9 ADR rating is simply any achieveable figure. It doesn't necessarily reflect real-world driving. Most cars are 2 litres/100 kms or so worse than the claimed consumption "average". So 8.9 litres/100 km sounds about right for people who have lighter feet than me.

I'm not exactly light footed. Far from it. I stick to the speed limit but I get there quick. But I still can do 6s on a regular basis. If anything I'm finding that as it gets older it's getting less economical.

But all cars have their days. My Bubble usually does low 5s. Did a trip to Uni in Wagga from Lithgow. Drove around Uni for the week (if anyone knows CSU Wagga you'll know why you drive) and then went into Wagga (uni is a few kms out) and filled up. The next day coming home I only got as far as Bathurst before I had to fill up. When I worked it out I did 5.3 going down and around 8.5 coming home. Same stuff in the car and everything. She still varies that much. My daughter drives her now.

I put it down to having to drive uphill the whole way home. Well you do have to go up to get from Wagga to Lithgow. Same as I do better going down the freeway than up it. And coming home from Brisbane than going there. It's uphill all the way there ;)

On a good day (which there are only a few) I can get low 8's on my daily commute. However most days it's around mid 9's.
