I'm 31 this year and currently working at the School of Chemistry, University of Melbourne as a researcher. Trying to get a Lectureship position within the next 2 yrs.

My basic degree was in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, a Masters in Applied Physics whilst I returned to Electrical and Electronic Engineering for my doctorate. How I ended up in a Chemistry Department, I'll never know.

I'm pretty good at Solid State Physics and vacuum science having built a vacuum chamber as part of my PhD and have lots of dealing with BOC Edwards in the UK but not here, so glad to know there are so many working for BOC here. At the moment @ UniMelb, I lecture a course in X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy.

Real world skills: I'm pretty nifty with Macintosh computers and I can tear the CJ Lancer's internal cushioning apart pretty well considering that I've sound deadened the whole car with Damplifier. Decent electrical skill since I have a degree in it but I've never done amps and subs. I've also got a pretty decent knowledge of where to find good grub around Melbourne.

I'm definitely feeling a little out of place. Lol. Although I know we don't have alot of members from the states but yea. :) I am US Army at the moment, almost 3 years in. Going to deploy here in about 5-6 months or so to Southern Afghanistan. Hopefully I won't get extended while I am over seas cause my contract is almost up when I should get back. Once I get out I am either going to do one of two things. A: Join the police force and try to get a spot on a SWAT team. or B: Go to UTI and get an automotive engineering degree.

Thats still pretty sweet though Vaelehn.

I had a mate who left to move 1600k's south to a litttle town called Wagga Wagga to join the army a little over a month ago.

Wouldn't the US automotive industry be pretty volatile to work in though??

All we here over here is how much doom and gloom there is for Chrysler, Ford and GM! :D

Wow Captain, can you get us a good deal on mobiles? I can say safely that my family alone can get 4 mobile contracts! Let alone the whole of Melbourne's CJ Lancer Club.

On another note, would you be up for a cruise soon? *see post in events thread*
