100% sure it's a scam or it will be used FOR a scam and either way you will be out of pocket of your cash OR your car.

This is a scam (who answered 'no' to the poll?? lol - get advice before you part with info n cash on the net).

My misses had it, almost word for word, when she sold her CH Lancer a few months ago. We replied and asked for more details etc from the buyer, just to see what response we'd get. A few 'chatty' emails about his predicament and how he'd always wanted a hotted up Lancer etc, then we had an email asking for a 'deposit' for the guys agent to collect the car - lol. So we told him to F*$% off. We then received two 'genuine' emails from the Western Australian Police Force - telling us that we were breaking the law and had to pay.

Crims who never did geography obviously...

Yeah I'm 99.9% sure it's a scam. A buyer's first gesture is to look at the car physically, so they arrange to meet up with you so they can see what they're buying. As what ofey meant, why would someone make an offer to car they haven't even inspected yet?

The fishiest stuff on the net are always those that sound too good to be true.

think it might be as low as $5k mate, for me anyway when I brought some software for work I had to do it two paypal transactions as I could not do $8k in one go.

the way the scam works is they will say their agent needs a fee (usually $800) deposited to them to cover costs, and to do that they promise topay a little extra to you for your troubles..

Funny that..... seems Carsales have no protection for this scam :P

Seems a lot of people get it. When my friend sold his FN2 Civic, he got a similar email - so we decided to test the waters by sending mass emails back. All the emails that came back were the same autoprompt emails (like yours). So we knew for sure it was a scam.

So don't bother about it :).
