speedie they actually have to wear it its not a cop rule its a Workplace health and safety rule. that any worker doing work on or near a road MUST have a hi vis jacket or High vis clothing on, if you in your own job have to work on or next to a road you also must wear a hi vis clothing or you will cop an on the spot fine from OHS.(if caught) that can be up to and over $200

I think the distinction needs to be made between that of a legal requirement and a procedural requirement. Procedurally they are required to wear hi-vis gear not legally required. A judge can only rule on legal matters not procedural matters relating to another department.

From what ive actually heard, its illegal to flash your high beams to warn other drivers of a speed camera. Had to listen to some cop on the radio talking about it when i was in the passenger seat of the fiesta listening to AM talk back radio =\

Yea. It's illegal. You know what I do? I dim my headlights to parkers then to low beams So If I get stopped I can go.. oh.. was just checking my lights

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Lancer's fog lamps aren't really fog lamps. Firstly, they use the same type of bulbs as the normal headlights. They're also not very effective in unclear conditions. The hardcore lamps similar to rally cars are an entirely different thing, so technically, you didn't have the foggies on.

I'm curious (excuse my naivety), but how are they different? beam focus or colour?

The bulbs are different they're H11. But the beam pattern is definately fog lighting. Very low to the ground and more spread than length. Fog lights work better in fog as a yellow light.

I thought yellow is the norm. From memory the bulbs are a normal coloured light as noted previously. Is it possible to replace them with a proper yellow light or do the lense have to be replaced to achieve that? ... goes off to play on e-bay to find out.

Edit: doing a search on "H11 yellow -hid" indicates you can replace the bulbs to achieve proper yellow appearance. Though have to cut thru all the dodgy ebay stuff. No brand name stuff there.

edit edit: hmm the "Nokya" (yes not Nokia) are apparently JDM 2500k fog bulbs. Must look further into that...

Fogs don't necessarily have to be yellow - they are determined to be fogs based on beam depth and light spread. Fogs as SIR-VRX says, spread the light low and wide.

Having said that - I personally reckon that yellow is better - after living in an area prone to severe fog, the yellow light is definitely reflected less back to you than whiter colours.

I have some Hella fogs (can't remember what type) - would love to have them installed on the Lancer but they are a bit big.

That ain't the worst in Aussie driving mate. I keep some dark chocolate in the car because it seems to lighten my mood minutes after being angry at sh!t motorists.

Back on topic. Looking at some PIAA yellow 2500K lights. I know yellow isn't a must for foggies but seems better and looks cooler and the fact they I hardly drive in foggy conditions is beside the point other than it looks cool (if and when i need them).
