A cop pulls a guy over for not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign. The guy doesn't complain and accepts the ticket. Then as the cop starts to walk off the guy in the car calls him back and identifies himself as a government workplace safety officer(I think that's what they are called) and issues the cop with a fine 3 times that of the one he was given. The reason being the cop was not wearing his safety vest.

that happened in WA apparantly, saw it today on fmylife.com

Today, I pulled someone over for speeding. He was only 10 over the speed limit so I gave him an $84 fine. It turns out he is a workplace Occupational Health and Safety officer and because I wasn't wearing my high visibilty vest while standing on the side of the road he gave me a $250 fine. FML

Multanova (speed camera) would be a different circumstance though.

So instead of pauying a $200 fine you will rather spend a few 10's of thousand dollars just to prove a point and make you even more of Cop bait after that. Sorry but thats just stupid

Remember a red "P" plater does get 4 points. However if he/she is caught speeding (no matter what the speed limit is) it is treated as a loss of licence, . Don't believe me ? Check out the RTA website. I had to check it for my nephew and sure enough he got his suspension letter in the mail last week. 10 ks over the limit. I'm pretty sure greens "P" have the same problem.

There might be a way for him not to spend heaps contesting a fine.

It looks very interesting though I haven't tried them out. Worth a look perhaps?

I'd love to hear of anyones experiences with asking a copper why he/she isn't wearing his/her visibility vest when issuing a traffic ticket! IMHO not only would this illicit a rather curt response from the officer in question but I'm tipping you'd spend the next 45 min waiting by the side of the road while they conducted a full roadworthy on your car. I have a few copper mates and they all agreed that when pulling over drivers for any offence most of them will consider the demeanor of the driver when considering issuing a ticket. ie. someone who admits speeding and acknowledges offence and keeps there cool may not recieve a ticket but the ones who jack them up and basically act like they did nothing wrong definately will!!
Where are my keys?!

It shouldn't cost 10's of thousands of dollars to take a traffic infringement to court, but if I've been booked I want to know how, when, where and why, not randomly receive a notice in the mail saying "I saw you go 120 on the freeway". If I go through a multanova over the limit then I'm willing to wear the fine, it was my fault that I was speeding. If I get pulled up and they have proof that I was speeding then I will also wear it. I haven't been fined for speeding because I never admit fault.
Now I'm not saying that I speed everywhere, but long story short I don't think it's acceptable to be booked without being pulled over.
If police could do this then who's to say that when they're behind on revenue or "targets" they don't pick out random cars?

I've seen that site but I didn't take that much notice of it lol

I also agree with Superfly, giving an officer some cheek or jacking them up will end badly for you, they will try and find something to throw a defect notice on for. Respect the police and they (usually) respect you back.
