Injen sells a heat shield it's aluminum though not sure if that would make a difference LOL But I am sure that they wouldn't sell things they defeat the purpose.

Not sure if you get fit a universal one?? But would this one work?

CAI have benefits over the SRI. They suck in cooler air, which in terms increase performance a little bit compared to sucking in hot air. Cooler air is more dense and combusts better... Hence why on cold nights your car feels gruntier compared to hot days.

In the end its up to you, but don't think the SRI will give you more performance over a CAI, especially on an untuned car and a stock exhaust system. The engine can only suck so much air into a cylinder, no matter how the air gets in there....

The only thing that it will really help with, is free up the breathing a bit in high RPM scenarios where it needs to suck more air in per minute... it frees up the restriction, but that's it.

I dont know where this "no gain" came from. There is soo much evidence to prove that there is gains. A performance gain does not have to mean "bolt it on and you instantly get more WHP". The injen cold air intake slightly tweeks fuel comsumption by causing air speed increase at the MAF, so keep in mind that fuel consumption will go up.

I think the whole intakes dont gain performance idea came from people expecting that just bolting it on with out freeing up the exhaust and tuning the engine to use the increased amount of air will mean more power. Key is you need to be able to exhale in order to inhale.

My suction pipe, MAF and airbox are now covered in DEI Reflect-a-Gold heat shielding. Seems to give a 5-7*C temp drop so I am recommending it as an effective intake mod.

If go SRI because its easier to install.
I think Sri is the one that offer better low end torque but again, like you said, it's all marginal :L sounds nice though

That's a substantial decrease! Are you using stock plastic maf airbox unit?
