Should be the same stock intake for all years.

It sounds like your after the MAF housing tube not an actual 2nd MAF (the actual sensor - rectangle looking thing with 2 allenkey bolts)

If you cut out the MAF tube section then couple that to your custom pipe work you should be good. Or Custom fab a pipe with a hole in it so you can bolt the sensor to it. You'd want to try and keep the pipe diameter same as stock.
Even by doing that, chance are you'll be getting a different flow of air to the engine which can upset the ecu if its outside the working ranges.

the MAF calcs are tuneable but will take a bit of logging and know how.

For example buying some aftermarket intakes for an evo x replace's all the pipes for more flow but by doing so you have to tell the ecu you're running a bigger pipe or else fuel trims go out the window

I personally think you can get rid of the MAF as long as you can tune for its removal as all Lancers have MAP sensors as well.

ill definatly keep that in mind glenn,

daniel, do they really. i didnt know that, does that mean it can take the afm out and then get it map sensor tune for that, then also if i want to put it back to running the stock intake with the afm it will work out alright??

thanx for all the comments ppl, i really apricate it.

Powertrain control, Map sensor
Lancer Evolution
ELECTRICAL »Powertrain control
Mitsubishi › Lancer › 2008-2010
List Price : $220.03 USD

Powertrain control, Map sensor
Lancer, From 4/1/08
ELECTRICAL »Powertrain control
Mitsubishi › Lancer › 2009-2010
List Price : $233.07 USD

Taken from US parts manual. So if you can find a tuner that has the ability to do a MAFless tune for a lancer than very possible . If you know your way around ECUFlash you could achieve the same result. Tricky but not impossible.
If you were to tune for MAFless you would have to retune when you replaced the MAF
