For me it's about parking in public car parks. IF the car next to an empty lot looks like on of them old bombs, I park elsewhere. Best lots are up aginst the wall on the passenger side. I get my wife out of the car first and park as close to the wall as possible.

As for washing, I was advised to use one brand of products. Either Autoglym or Meguiars. Never mixing. I got a Meguiars product bag which has their wash and wax stuff and also stuff for cleaning the tyres. I use their lambs wool wash mit to lather on the suds and use the flip side when getting lower down like near the side skirts. Afterthat, I rinse the mitt completely in water before just using water now to push the sudds off. I use a microfibre cloth which is slightly wet to push off the remaining water before using another one to dry. This third cloth is never dirty. If it is it means I didn't wash properly. Then I clean the paint before waxing. Still I get swirls due to the fact that our top coat and paintwork is terrible. No matter how much you care, admit it our build quality isn't great. Same goes for the interior. Good thing I have leather seats though... .

Yeah Ofey
The Meguiars and Autoglymm are the best!
I'm pretty sure Meguiars have a product that fixes those swirl marks
I wouldnt use anything else on my cars
I also use a mitt and seperate chamois when drying different parts of the cars (We have 2 x CJ VRX's)
Also Armourall is good on interior plastics etc but can leave a film on the inside of the screen which is a nuisance!

Obsessive? Ask my wife! She will give a 3 letter answer.

Like to minimise risk and maximise the chance the car still looks like new after 5 years! This is for all my cars...

So yes:
- park under cover as often as possible (at work, garage at home)
- keep clean. Not so worred about dust..but tar, bugs, bird sh etc car gets a rinse if not a full wash. Like a chamois finish and a 6 month re-wax.
- park next to wall/pillar, away from 4WD's ) anything that looks like kids or driver does not give a crap), away from trolly collection points. Away from turning areas. Preference to reverse in...lower risk on way out and you get a scan on the drive by.
- it gets it services, a car is not driven when it complains (overheats or makes bad mechanical noises)...even hire cars!)

Having said that, mine is not a collectors car, it is a tool of trade. I like to look after my gear, but it will wear out eventually and it is replacable and will be replaced should I have the funds when i get bored with it. No excuse to abuse, but not crying over the first scratch (which mine has got....small tree scrape below the waist line on rear..backing in!) C'est la vie....

No one is allowed to drive the car except my hubby and I. We've never taken it to a car wash - and never will. We wash it once a month - I'm in charge of the interior, hubby the exterior. NO ONE, not even us, is allowed to eat in the car - mints are allowed, and water. I hate parking at shopping centres. Penrith Plaza has a few single spots so whenever we go down there I'll try for one of those first, if they're all taken I'll look for a spot near a pillar/wall and then park as close to it as possible (some a-hole hit our car with their door after we had it for only a few weeks!) We wash bird poo off straight away. I really hate fingerprints - especially on the windows, door handles, those black bits on the doors and the interior. The car is always garaged, even if I come home for an hour and then have to go back out again I'll put it in the garage. I park undercover at work. As for locking it - I hit the lock button, pull on the handle to make sure..... then as I start walking away I'll hit lock again lol!!!!

Yep, Pretty much all of the above.

Wash it once a week, even if it's been raining
Always clean inside door frames, boot and under bonnet
Polish it 2 to 3 times a year and if it needs it i'll take it to a specialist to have the works done.
I take the wheels off to clean behind them and the Brembo's
Always park away from everyone

The list goes on, haha, it's not OCD, we just like cars!
