Lachlan.......... well done for you and your group of friends.. My middle son is like that with his mates,, they are mostly good kids, but ratbags.....
they don't trash other peoples property and generally are respectful,, we would like to think most kids are. but as you said, the media sensationalize lots of trivial things and paints a bleak picture.
Governments have a lot to answer for. They have taken too many rights away from parents to discipline their kids and the kids know it. Plus the police are too busy out raising revenue for the governments, that they don't have the time or resources to patrol the streets. I know in Geelong when i was a teenager, if the cops seen you out and about in groups they almost always took your name and kicked your arse all the way home.
Not all kids are bad, but at least hand out real punishment to those that are. peer group pressure is an excuse for losers. We all have minds and should be able to use them........... Vote me for PM,,, i will show the bastards heheheheheheehehehee
***** ALERT - Nominations for your new ClubCJ Committee can be made here *****

It was the same when I was growing up Ian. The cops knew who you were in our small country town and they would kick you all the way home. I was a good girl so I didn't have first hand experience of it but I've seen them at work. There was a lot more respect for them back then too.
My kids are all good kids who have been brought up to respect other peoples property. They also knew that everything they did reflected on their father and as he was in a rather prominent position in town they were close to angels out in public. We live our lives in a fishbowl.
I also used to discipline my children and have the audacity to tell them NO. My children have also thanked me for the way they were brought up. They see the others around them who were spoilt and never told no and they are glad they are not like them.
Kids nowdays don't hear no enough. There's more to parenting than some people seem to think.

I'm not sure whether I'm angrier about the fact that if these kids were caught, nothing would happen, or the fact they'll most likely never be caught. The cops are too focused on useless "crimes", and this kind of crap among the younger generation is so rampant nowadays it's too hard to pin down and contain. I know enough little rats like this but unfortunately due to the fact that they aren't learning anything from their parents, they are learning to survive and learning to avoid being caught with their hands in anything from a scarily young age.
I live in north western Sydney, and a friend of mine woke up at 2am to find his car alarm going off and looked out his window down to the car to see three 11 year olds smashing all his windows.
I know I'm only 20, and it's depressing when even I can say this, but the percentage of kids that have gone down that path means that there just aren't enough for a good future. I hope whoever owns this car has justice served. But trust me, if you think Adelaide is bad, my friends, try Sydney and Western Sydney on for size.
