OMG... I got my CJ serviced the other Friday at a well-known reputable Mitsubishi service centre (I dont know if I should name names) for its 45km service.. $400 later and thinking everythings sweet with my car I was driving to work on the Saturday morning on the Hume Highway when suddenly I see all this white smoke coming out the back of my car... I pull over straight away and all the oil is literaly pouring out everywhere and is running down the road! I was nearly crying!
The story was that they diddnt fasten the sump-plug properly and it had fallen out. I remembered hearing a thump like a rock hitting the bottom of the car about a kilometer before I pulled over, that was probably my sump-plug saying goodbye!
Lucky everything is now fine with my car and there was no damage done because I stopped in time!
I hope that never happens to any of you guys because it sucked big time for me! Makes me think who I can trust next time I get my car serviced!!

Sorry to hear about your misfortune that really sucks.
Did they list on your records that this event happened? Reason I ask is there could be some permanent damage caused down the track. Not trying to scare you, but might be an idea for the future.
A place my mate worked at had a prestige car of some sort in and they forgot to put the sump plug in, his engine wasnt so lucky

Yeah Albion Park Mitsubishi! They are great people down there i must say, they are going to send me an apology letter and have offered my next service free of charge. I guess everyone can make mistakes were only human afterall.

Yeah its on their records and I can go back anytime again to get it all tested and checked out. Ill probly get it checked next week.
You dont know how good a company is until you have a problem. They could have carried on and tried to make some story up. Good to see they didn't and handled the situation correctly.
I would hate to be the person that was working on your car, they would have got royally smacked about the head, won't forget the sump plug again in a hurry.

LOL well they told me on the phone that the guy who worked on my car got sacked !! (Wouldn't really know if he did though lol)

Over the years I have known some people who've worked in service dept's for Mitsu, Ford and Nissan here in Newcastle and they all have said the same thing.
In a workshop you have your fully qualified mechanics, and the apprentices. Apprentices are great because they are cheap, eager most of the time to work and they don't have many hassles so they keep the mechanic to apprentice ratio right at it's limit (whatever it is).
What ends up happening is that the mechanics are always supervising the apprentices and the favourite thing to give an apprentice is a regular vehicle service. They are done via guidelines and they're not complex or difficult to do.
The unfortunate result however is small basic little things that a mechanic would never have forgotten, get overlooked. Most likely what has happened to your car Soph.
The business would surely state they have fired the person as it makes them look pro active and concerned for their reputation as giving quality servicing. Servicing after all is where the money is after a car is sold and why most dealers try sell you a warranty where you HAVE to service the car with them.
I do however think that giving you your next service FREE is fantastic and for me that would go a long way towards making me happy.
Isn't the 60000 service a major service?
Hope there are no problems with your car that develop later. You're obviously a smart girl for stopping. Some girls I know would have just kept driving and eventually the smoke would have stopped .... and they would have kept driving. lol
