CH Wagon Trailer?
Just had a crazy though, has anyone turned a CH Lancer Wagon into a trailer.
Take one wrecked CH (front end crash), lop off at the A pillar, attach a draw bar and you have the most unique Lancer trailer ever!

I think it's more like this, chop the front off.

Re: CH Wagon Trailer?
Yeah like that BUT the big issue could be weight, even lopping the engine off the front it would still weigh at least 500kg (if not a lot more), even with the seats stripped out. With a 1000kg tow limit on the CJ it could be touch and go to be under that loaded as a 'cool' camper.
Maybe something smaller like an older Mirage or even a CC wagon?
The idea would be a camper like the teardrop ones you can get so a bed inside and maybe cooling area?

So just out of interest how much would the back of a CH wagon weigh, without everything in front of the A pillars? Also minus the seats and dash. I'm thinking its at least half the weight so north of 500kg, maybe 600-700?

Re: CH Wagon Trailer?
Hey it was just a thought, might still work with the right chassis. But if anyone knows what it would weigh please chime in.

Re: CH Wagon Trailer?
Kerb weight of an ES is a little over 1300kg, so shave the nose off and you'll lose the 300kg easy. seats and interior probably another 150, but once you add a drawbar and hydraulic coupling (maintain use of the rear brakes ) then you're probably outside the weights of usefulness.... It depends on how far you go with it, if you lock the windows up and take all the bits out of the doors and speakers, you might be able to use it to bring the shopping home

Re: CH Wagon Trailer?
Yeah I thought it could be on the heavy side, pity my Lancer is limited to 1000kg. I was told newer CJs and CFs have a slightly higher capacity, maybe 1300kg?
Still think with the right setup it would look cool.

Re: CH Wagon Trailer?
Do a rear cut, use the rear doors back, a sportsback would be good for unobstructed access right through. and then use the existing light assembly and the brakes as mentioned, and you'd have a pretty all right trailer, especially towed by a sedan XD

Re: CH Wagon Trailer?
I'd still need to find the right wagon, a CH would be ideal.
And this is just an idea so not gone into costs from a wrecker plus the logistics of getting it home and then working on it.

When I think about it that weight on a CJ would be snail galore, car suffers with max passengers up hills imagine with that xD
