Geiger Counter for your smartphone?

Postby Lancer1993 » Fri Aug 21, 2015 8:18 am

Has anyone bought/tried a Geiger Counter for their smartphone?

They can be bought for less than $50 and just plug into the audio jack then DL the app and apparently you have a working Geiger Counter in your pocket!

Hey Craig,

Why would you be looking to buy a Geiger counter ? I use the proper hand helds at work but don't see a need for one after hours.

There was a special on SBS about uranium and well I checked on eBay Geiger counter, as you do, and was surprised how cheap they are.

I agree it's something you'd probably use a couple of times.

BTW - someone has made a smart phone with a Geiger counter built in, yes along with GPS and your camera you can now check radiation and it's part of the phone, no need for an adapter.

Does your job have something to do with medical or radiography Craig? As I believe it's mainly used for sterilisation, radiography or gauging/levelling instruments.
