Window tint with privacy glass?
Just wondering what others have done.
I was told that with the privacy glass rear windows on my VRX that I only need tint on the front but I might have to go for darker to make it match. The upside is doing just the front windows it will cost me just $85 with a guy I trust.
But I remember the dealers (who was trying to sell their tint and protection package) said the privacy glass is not a UV barrier so still needs tint or a clear UV coating.
Just wandering what others have done as I don't want to get it too dark and be illegal? I was told I may need 20% on the front to match better but 35% is the legal limit here in QLD.
I was thinking of going with the light tint on front windows (lighter than the privacy glass) and clear UV on the back to help protect the interior.

i`ve had no sun damage through the rear privacy glass but my car is normally garaged so doesnt get much sun so i cant really judge whether putting a clear film over them would make any difference but i think not
as for the front i put 20% on and even that isnt as dark as the rear, arguably because they are beside the windscreen so they have a lot of ambient light.

Your dealer is wrong. All glass in Lancers have uv protection, so you don't need to tint the rear privacy glass. 20% on the front matches but is illegal and you will need to open front windows to reverse at night especially in difficult locations.
Worth it in my opinion as it looks terrible if it doesn't match.

when i had my other one ( the sliver one) i had my mate do my tint i had 18% on the front and he did 35% on the back and it blended in well but each state has it owns laws with tint with how dark u can go

I thought that this was regulated in the ADR's and that it was Australia wide?
You know that you have really got to someone when they invest personal time into tracking you down all over the internet.
