@ Buzz - DO enrol in some form of advanced riding course, after gaining your license.

DO join a club/forum to further your knowledge/skills.

Once you are confident, try a track day - it's a good way to practise your skills in a semi-controlled environment. I guarantee you'll have a grin like a split watermelon, after your first track session !!

Thermals holycrap good call. I bought mine from a camping store shirt worked too well. The pants were meh but i found if you use your thighs to hold onto your fuel tank is a killer workout and takes the stress off your palms leaning down on the handle bars. This workout heated up my legs quite quickly.

Prior to thermals i took 1 trip without and i got freezing cold to a point i got sick the following day. Worth it still!

Its one thing to buy the gear, but no point in buying it if ur not going to wear it.
And if U do buy a bike and drop it (if ur riding) remember to not hold on, and try to tuck ur head, after all my years of dirt bike riding I found this method has saved me from serious injury

helmets, boots, and possibly gloves would be the most important things, protective clothing should be brought to how u ride, if u only want to commute to work there is no need to buy full leathers, but clothes that have some protection would be ideal

Thanks for all the advice Guys/Girls, didn't think anyone had commented on this thread in a while. Still haven't booked for the Qride course yet but I am planning on doing it right after I get the lancers major service done...

I have been looking around on the web still to see which bikes would best suit me..(100kg / 6.?ft tall) Not gonna bother looking at any in person until I can actually test ride them though.

Nice bikes too Byzon!
