Mobile phone nostalgia

Postby big_d » Fri May 04, 2012 8:28 am

With the launch of Samsung's new S3 today, it got me thinking about all the phones I have owned.

And here they are,

My very first was this beast. Well, it was actually my Mums phone that I borrowed from time to time. No text, just phone calls.
Image

The first phone bought myself.
It would store a maximum of 20 text messages.
Image

That was soon replaced by this Ericson number.
Image

Not long after I decided to go Nokia.
Image

Nokia #2
Image

Nokia #3. For a rugged phone, it crapped out after 1 year for no reason.
My first camera phone.
Image

It was replaced with this Samsung that I brought on special for $99.
Image

I then got my hands on this Sony Ericson.
Image

And finally, I bought myself a few months back a Samsung Galaxy note.

So there it is, over 14 years of mobile phone ownership.
What phones have you owned over the years? What was your first mobile phone?

The first mobile we had was the same as your first one. If you put the smaller battery on them they were "pocket sized" lol

I then moved to a town with no mobiles. When we finally got them around 10 years ago I got a little red Samsung flip phone. It was CDMA. Sooooo cute. Then another silver CDMA Samsung and then a black Samsung flip which was digital. That was my first camera phone. We had moved to the coast by then. I then got a pink Nokia.

And after 3 years of looking after it carefully because I loved it so much one of the buttons fell off and I decided to upgrade from my sucky $30 a month plan to a capped plan so I got myself an iPhone 3GS. Don't know what I ever did without it. I did want a Samsung Galaxy SII but I would have had to pay more every month to get that or an iPhone 4 so I just got the older model iPhone which didn't need an extra monthly payment.

Next upgrade I was thinking about the Samsung or the iPhone 4S. My boys have the Samsung GSII and my daughter has a 4S. Both have their good points.

Geez I couldn't even list all of mine...

I used to get a new one every 3 months when I managed a mobile phone store...

Most memorable for being crap...

Oh wow that Philips Diga was my first mobile too!!

I love how it took the entire credit-card sized sim card into the phone, and the battery was the entire back of the phone! And the suspense of reading SMS's as they scroll across the single line display...

I've had Nokias since, with the obligatory 3310, then a stainless clamshell 6170 and now a 6710 Navigator.

Oh dear god, now I'll be showing my age.

My first phone was in 1995. It was a Nokia 2110e - indestructable... dropped so many times... and it had an extendable antenna!!!

I've missed a phone or two there ... if I recall I'll put them up.

Some Nokia.
Some Motorola (that was TERRIBLE).
NEC N412i (thinnest phone in the world at the time. Served me well).
When I replaced it I gave it to a friend and she snapped it in about 3 days, idiot.
Image
Nokia N95 8gb (fat and indestructible. Lasted nearly 3 years of teenager-level use, still works although the paint on the buttons is mostly gone :P)
Image
Currently: HTC Desire HD (excellent phone).
Image

Eyeing a Note now though my HTC is still like-new.

Nokia N-Gage! I had one of those bad boys. All I remember about that thing is that I had to hold it sideways to my face to answer calls!!

I was always a massive nokia fanboy untill i got a iphone, now thanks to all the money ive blown on stuff that suits my iphone, i cant switch to an android as much as id like to. Would kill me not having full ipod connectivity in my car :(
