Roadworks + illiterate drivers...

Postby tjoz » Sat Jun 26, 2010 2:09 pm

Today I got a great new mod on my car, a cracked windscreen... Brilliant week I been having.

They are resurfacing the freeway where I live. I use this freeway everyday to and from and work and each day you are guaranteed at least one imbecile that will either speed up and cut you off; try merging onto the freeway at 60 instead of 100 or just the usual indicators are for idiots. You also get the ones that dont slow down in the roadwork zones, especially ones where the road is being re-surfaced. One f-ing dumb c of a truck driver didnt want to slow down during the roadworks zone and I now have big crack in my windscreen as when he went past, something hit the windscreen.

Absolute dumb c... What part of the sign do they just not get?? The picture part that has a car with cracked windscreen with loose stones in black on it or that big red circle with two numbers in it... They need harder driving tests, fail a question and you get tazered. Same with the road laws, break them and get tazered. None of this jail shit anymore; just tazer them. Run a red light, tazer them. Run a red light and speeding too, tazer them abit longer. Speeding in a roadworks zone, fire a rocket launcher at them.

One more thing goes wrong with my car and I will either drive it off a cliff, blow it up or beat the shit out of someone. Not entirely happy at the moment, least the crack not all the way through the windscreen yet.

Since when have trucks ever been good, they're all a******s imo, every time i get onto the freeway they drive up within a metre of my ass and then merge right

Couldn't agree more Tim.. well not trucks imo but drivers in general. They are doing roadworks on a major highway that I drive along everyday to work as well and everyday I slow down to the limit required but I am always tail gated for it.. even though I am in the far left lane. Road rules are in place for a reason..

Geez that sucks tim. Have you got windscreen cover on your insurance? Did you catch the plate of the truck?

if you have sensors in your screen-vrx/aspire drivers beware!!!

i now have glass coverage on my insurance.
For every "Drive Safely" sign, shouldn't there be a "Resume Normal Driving" sign?

the sensors are built into the windshield, from what i understand.
they then plug into the section in front of the rear view.
the wiring is in the map lights, and goes down to etacs from there.
oem is the only option for replacement. big $$$, seen here, note squigglys on screen glass

Windscreen will cost me $300 including fitting. Getting it done through RACV, I get it cheaper as my insurance is through them too. Getting it done tomorrow morning at work.

Now just hope there is nothing major wrong with my exhaust as thats booked in on Saturday...

Tim I believe the newer models have a better sound proofing glass. I wonder if you get it?

If you do please let us know if you notice the difference.

Windscreen replaced now, was cheaper than quoted. Only cost me $250 for brand new one fitted at work. Only thing noticeable is that its cleaner and dont have bird crap on it yet.
