You know you only need to hit your head on the window with a velocity of about 29kph and a fatal head injury is near inevitable. From what I've read curtain airbags significantly reduce the chances of a fatal head injury and that's why you cant get a 5 star rating unless the vehicle is fitted with them.

Not to mention it also reduces the chances of an arm coming out of the vehicle in a crash and being crushed....

I'd go VRX anyday. bigger brakes, 18s, sports suspension, auto wipers and lights, bodykit, better seats, 7 airbags, oh and the keyless entry is kick ass!! there's more stuff to list but my mind is blank.

Get the 2.4L whack on an axle back (good brand like Magnaflow in stainless is $400 max) and lower it if you want ($500-800) and a K&N drop in filter for $130ish and you're set!

Look for an olympic edition, standard with leather. One thing not metioned about the VRX is the bigger brakes. ES don't come with sunroof only vr/vrx.

I would go for the ES and go for the aftermarket parts. The only real difference in the ES and VRX are the bigger brakes that you don't really need unless you are going to add lots of power which it doesn't sound like you are and the auto lights and wipers. The rest of the things that the VRX has you can purchase and add on for much cheaper than the VRX. The other advantage of the ES is that you get slightly better fuel economy and afermarket parts will help it even more.

Which ever you decide to buy, they are both great cars and I'm sure you will not be disapointed.

Well I bought an '09 spec VRX and couldn't be happier with it
The 2.4 isn't as thirsty as you all seem to think
On a trip I have gotten mine down to 6.1 Litres per 100K's using the cruise control and driving sedately when it was off
For my money I'd suggest the VRX as you don't have to stuff around upgrading your car as mostly everything is done from factory
Sure do the exhaust/CAI/Filter but that's personal choice
They are both great cars either way
Just my opinion

Also you get a sweet looking bodykit with the VRX. You don't have to find a dodgy fibreglass one that will be riddled with stress fractors in a couple of months
