Have you parked your car on a slope forward?

This can stop the water running out to the back.

It's happened to me as well when I first got the car.

They found a hole in the rubber grommet where they poked through the wiring for the reverse parking sensors.

As compensation they cleaned it out, fixed the grommet, replaced the wood fibre board and gave me the hard plastic boot tray protector.
