Hey guys, my last Saturday night experience gave me an interesting thought.
I typically volunteer to be the designated driver for a few reasons:
1. I love helping my mates out
2. I love driving my car
3. I'm not a real big drinker at all
However, I'm sure many of you may know that driving all the drunks home can be a rowdy experience having to deal with them all. Last Saturday night the fools in the back got mud all over my backseat and floor (grr i could've killed them lol) and kept opening the windows and doors, thank god for the childlock on power windows aye? XD
So I'd like to ask for your suggestions about keeping order in the car when doing the designated driver task. My biggest fear is that my passengers will do something stupid and draw the attention of a cop who will fine me for 'not keeping control of passengers' or something trivial, but I'm sure they have sympathy for deso drivers haha.

I was always the driver because I did not drink.
Talk too your friends when they are sober.
Or choose better friends.
Being drunk is not an excuse for being an idiot and damaging some ones car.
I always opened the doors too to stop them opening them against poles.
If you get pulled over by the police get out and speak to them away from your friends and apologise for any of their behaviour.
If all else fails make your mates take a cab.

Good suggestions
My friends aren't all bad haha, 90% of them are really good passengers, but when one has that little bit too much it gets on my nerves. I have found stopping the car somewhat suddenly (but not stupidly) seems to make them pay attention to which I then warn them not to be idiots normally helps. Depends on the night ultimately I guess lol

yeah i normally end up being the driver when we go out. my general rules are tat if they damage the car in any way they HAVE to pay for it to be fixed or cleaned, i charge them for being driven 
warn me if they go to throw up, and if they throw up in the car they have to clean i up but eating it.
but yeah you have the responcibility of the passengers in your car, so if they get too bad, pull over and kick them out, (in a safe spot)

I am usually DD for my mates due to work having 0.0 Limits. 2 Weeks ago my drunken brother in law was about to throw up so I pulled to the side, he jumped out (scratching the side with the seat belt in the process) and then vomited all over the footpath. I hoped out, patted him on the back, shut the door and drove off.
I tend to be DD (or SS - sober Sally...), but really, it depends on how well I know the person(s). The usual people who get in my car (5 other people), know my rules lol. Generally, new people cop the following:

1/ I love my car more than most people, the very fact you are sitting in it is your pleasure, not your right.
2/ feet on the floor
3/ no alcohol to be opened/or consumed, smoking is prohibited.
4/ you break/stain/tear/tarnish it, you bought it.
5/ what I say goes. most important
6/ if in doubt, ask the driver and refer to rule 5.
Should anyone fail to comply, it's an instant never getting in my car again rant. Non-retractable, non-negotiable. Works well for me

I always end up being designated driver as I dont drink. The only rule I have with them is dont pee or poop in the car. Everything else can be handled easily with threats I will drop you off right here.
Other precautions have to take though are:
-keeping windows up halfway
-childlock on everything
-hands where you can see them (one of my friends will often get the girls out)
-dont laugh at what they do as they will keep on doing it
Having drunks in the car is like putting little kids to bed, wear them out first
