Here is a suggestion:
I am guessing you will be coming up Main North Rd! I am from Gawler and would suggest coming into the Gawler township and taking the Barossa Valley Way to Tanunda which is the more scenic route instead of taking the Sturt Hwy / Gomersal Rd.
When you get to the first Gawler exit on Main North Rd (B19 into Gawler) take that exit (continues on as Main North Rd / Adelaide Rd) instead of taking the Gawler Bypass / Sturt Hwy.There is a sign over the road warning you about the Gawler exit about 1 km from the exit. The direction signs will say either take the Sturt Hwy / Gawler Bypass or Main North Rd (can be confusing) to get to the Barossa Valley. Make sure to take the first exit (the sign says 'Gawler Town Centre') on Main North Road. Follow Main North Rd around the Gawler racecourse past McDonalds and KFC as well as Mitre 10 around a slight bend and over the bridge / traffic lights into Gawler's main street.
Once you get nearly to the top end of the main street (Murray St) turn right onto Lyndoch Rd / Horrocks Place / Barossa Valley Way (known as any of these 3 names) towards Sandy Creek / Lyndoch. I believe there is a sign at that intersection saying Lyndoch / Barossa Valley Wine Region turn right. There is a set of traffic lights at this intersection at the top of the main street (Murray Street) which you need to then turn right att so you will know where to turn!
This road will then take you all they way to Lyndoch, once you get to Lyndoch you will then need to make a left turn at the first intersection with the stop sign. This continues on as the Barossa Valley Way until you hit Tanunda's main street. I think you can get around the back via the Bethany road to the bowling alley but if you want to go through the main street you can.
It is a good drive which I did today as I had to go through Tanunda to Nuriootpa to get a couple new tyres. There is a few bends / corners in the road but a good drive overall with the speed limit at 100 km/h from Gawler to Lyndoch and 90km/h from Lyndoch to Tanunda. I think it is about 27km from Gawler to Tanunda today I saw on a sign at Tanunda.
Couldn't work how to produce a mao for you to view on Google Maps, so I hope this makes sense to you, any problems more than welcome to help out!
