WA Group Buy (Oznium.com)

Postby Graham » Tue May 04, 2010 7:02 pm

Greetings fellow Westerners,

There has been talk of a group buy from the website oznium.com so here we are.

Oznium have a large supply of LED/lighting products for automotive and other uses... Okay so I'm no good at selling products so why don't you just check out their website? :P

www.oznium.com

You may find some things might be cheaper elsewhere, but quality wise Oznium are one of the best places out there :)

Some of the Oznium products that I have in my car if you wish to take a look include:

Prewired 5MM LED (Blue)
Prewired SMD LED (Blue)
Piranha Bars (Blue)
A few other non-LED related thingo's too :P

If you are keen please take a look through their site, write down what you would like and post it up here and I will add you to the list. Please note prices on the site are in USD and shipping will not be calculated until we have everyones order (As it may vary depending on weight).

If you are wanting to order a larger item such as an underbody kit the shipping may greatly increase and to make it fair on other members you might end up paying more shipping than them, but we'll work that out if come across it :)

i can get larger amouts of Strip LED,s for alot cheaper. i can get 5M of 3528 SMD LED's for $27USD ish any colour. and 5M of 5050SMD LED's $47USD ish, anycolour. can get per say 30cm to 50cm but you have to buy at least 5-10 of each, so like 3m of each to get them cheap.

better to buy 5M cheap.

Thanks Blakey, looking out for us ;) But the Oznium LED strips come with 3M tape on them. And I don't think we will be purchasing that much to get the discount you mention :P

Graham you can put me down for 2x 19 inch flexible LED strips, in blue. (Yours are 19 too aren't they?) Oh and also 1x Round rocker switch - blue LED. I realised buying 4 would cost too much for me :(

All their strips simply have to be wired up to power, thats it. (It should say on the product page though so check).
And if you have a look under your seats there's already flaps cut out that you can stick wires in.

Guys i'm still deciding, wait for me :P

And cool white or neutral white for DRLs do you think? I'm thinking cool but the cops will also like that less...

But I thought you need fuses in case of a short? And on their diagram they have a fuse in it I think.

I think cool white would look better, not the crappy yellowy tinge colour. As long as it's not venturing into the blue colour region I don't think they will pull you up on it.

Had a think... Whatever you piggyback the LEDs off will already be running through a fuse so it doesn't matter much.

My order:
4x Prewired Surface Mount LEDs (Orange).
4x Side Emitting "Headlight" LED Strips (1 foot each, Neutral white).
73.92USD = ~$83

I'll be selling the headlights strips if I don't use them.

Note: There is 3 whites. Basically HID white, plain white and headlight white (yellowy). 'Cool' (HID) is the best imo but would be out of place on my car!

even with that, you should still put in a inline 1A fuse on all your LED strips, if they are less then 1A

cause you can see most LED strips come with quite small cable, and the thing you are connecting it to can carry probably up to 10A depending what you hook it to. now that small cable on the LED strip cant take 10A but the fuse and other cable can carry 10A easily no problem, so wile your LEDs are melting and burning your car down your fuse that was meant to protect your car is running fine,

if your cable gets smaller you need a properly rated fuse between the different size cables to be safe.

if the cable is the same size, then its not needed. as they both have the same current carrying capacity. if the cable goes from small to larger cable you dont need it, as your current carrying capacity of the new wire is greater, there for will not burn or melt if the rated fuse of the original wire has be reached up to but not enough to blow the fuse.

so please i erge you to be safe with electricity do it properly, properly rated fuses and safe correct connections with the proper size wire. i dont want you burning your car down as much as you wouldn't like it, but i have seen it happen.
