it's a bastard reality at times, but good things come to those who wait 
You eventually pay a lot less for insurance, as long as you don't make an at fault claim. I think initially i had to pay around 1800 (at 19) to insure a VT commo, so it does get better!
i should also add, that it's a blessing in disguise not to own a turbo and/or premium car until later on anyway, They're generally more expensive to run/mod/fix (if sh*t happens) let alone insure, so gives you a chance to save pennies for later!

yeah i guess since technically this is my first car with insurance under my name my other car was under moms name in highschool which was a rav4 and well the singapore car a volvo had no diff to here so yeah i guess waiting game is what i needa do... well good thing is i have gd practice driving since i drive here n in singapore which are worlds apart lol... takes a while to get used to drivin in both countries...

Just thinking about driving in any country in that part of the world stresses me out! lol. i'd be so nervous i'd be a terrible driver
But in saying that, we may not have anywhere near that volume of traffic here, but our drivers are generally ignorant/rude and don't even know basic road rules. Stress levels rising... haha.
lol our drivers here are very very tame as compared to singapore trust me.... signalling and giving way are not in anyone's vocabulary there.... its just force ure way through and hope you dont get hit.... the buses especially there dont care they have no qualms bout smashing through u.... cuz the law there states you have to give way to buses.... n bus drivers take that to a whole new level...

I'm 19 too.
Only been pulled up once. They just did a breath check and asked what I was up to.
Never been in trouble or even warned for anything... Unlike some of my friends. I've been waved through 2 breath-test blockades. Don't feel like I get overly discriminated against...
And most insurance companies base their rates on statistics they collect, P platers crash more (and have bigger crashes) so our insurance costs more. Also, we claim more often as many of us don't have no claim bonuses to look after.
Also, it reduces how many people buy hoon cars and become lifetime hoons, saving the insurance company money in the long run.
And LOL at laser jammers... You'll be missile-proof

You've been lucky then! I used to get pulled over almost weekly at your age on P plates, when i wasn't even doing anything wrong! I ended up removing the P's, and after that i rarely had a problem. So yes, i think young drivers are targets!

Very diplomatic way to look at it. Not a bad outlook at only 19

Hahaha, that conjures up funny images in my head. Though i have no clue what a laser jammer even is, gonna have to look that up!
laser jammer basically interferes or jams laser signals, so if a cop uses a handheld radar to get your speed it wont return a speed.
most devices have a loud alert and then cut off after 3-5 seconds so from the cops perspective he didn't have a clear reading and by then you're at the speed limit when he has a reading

I swear if they pulled me over trying to chase the people that broke into my house I would be in A LOT!!!!!!!!!!! more trouble than they would be
my HL2 front lip is broked
ran over a damn tyre on the freeway
