Ouch!! I hate speed cameras too, my radar detector has saved me heaps but the new cameras being laser based won't be detected.. I may need to invest in a laser jammer. Or just not speed, but easier said than done.
hmm 10-19 would be 3 demerits and $150, I've had that fine twice
Remember Graham, radar detectors are legal, laser jammers are not
Graham wrote:ooh lucky, $8 a day here. and I hate peak hour traffic with a passion, half of perth drivers can't drive/merge
aww, and I bet the speeding fine will only be a once off too, hopefully
Completely agreed on the bad drivers. WA clearly made it too easy for to long to get a licence. I have severe road rage issues every morning on the way to work! lol.
I'll admit though, i wasn't the best driver either for the first year, not enough experience. Licences were so easy to get back then, i got mine just before they changed the rules to make it harder. This explains why other than the "hoons" most of the bad drivers now are actually older drivers, not young ones.
I hope the speeding fine is a once off, time to read the camera locations each day... haha... or get a legal radar detector!
At least all you guys have an excuse, you're all 18/19 or thereabouts right? I'm 27 and female, i should know better!
actually i am 22 and had my license since 17 and have been driving in singapore for 2 years.... i should have a bit more sense.... and my speeding fine was within a month of gettin the car too.... was my first ever.... never even had a parking fine either.... dad went ballistic.... saying if i lose my aussie license he will tear up my singapore license as well...
thats not nice
stereotyping us as young drivers that if we do bad things on the road we dont know its wrong. if i speed i know its wrong. i am not stupid hoon like my mates who dont care about being safe
you cant put down age as an excuse.... or gender for that matter

lol matt but insurance companies do discriminate against age and gender.... but i agre with matt....people just take the easy way out in pointing at young males who love cars as speed demons/hoons looking to act a fool... not everyone is like that heck there are females that are older than us who do crazy stuff on the road as welll (no stereotyoing just giving examples)

Aaron, I looked further into this earlier in the week and there is currently no law in WA that prevents the use of laser jammers, however..
Police can still hityou with interfering in police business or resisting a police officer or something like that... duno the exact name of the law or the penalty though
Licenses are still easy to get regardless of the hours/time until you get your license idiots will still be idiots, I reckon an advanced driving course should be mandatory when on your L's...
I'm 19 and I'm a male, on P plates... I'm stereotyped a hoon

i didn't mean it like that mate, just having a laugh at my own stupidity! no offence meant, sorry. i did say in my earlier post that bad drivers aren't necessarily young, and that's true, i see older drivers doing bloody stupid things on the road every day.
The insurance company stereotyping is true though, and being female & the age i am is probably the only reason i can afford to insure my RA. Reality sadly means for a young male to have one it would cost a fortune, whether deserved or not. I paid higher premiums until i was 25 as well though, and have a clean driving record so now i'm reaping the benefits.
since i have a car, and exhaust and under the age of 24 i am also stereotyped as a hoon.
which annoys me, so what i have some low km speeding finesand another fined (which i though was BS). ever driver has had them,

OMG!! it really does suck that the actual young male hoons ruin it for the rest of you. My RA insurance is only 550 annually, but AAMI did do me a good deal when i switched from RACWA. I was paying about 700 a year for the MY07 Velocity through them, and they quoted about 1000 per year
