Wow.... That is a lot of money, a seriously large amount of money.
Panel filter (hks or cosworth) = $70, 5 min install if you take your time
Evo x or ix bov (you will not need more on the standard ra turbo) =$150'ish, 15 min install, very easy
Ultimate Racing catback = approx $1200 delivered + 2 × ramps for $150. If you can us a socket set you can change the catback portion of the exhaust, maybe 1.5 hrs - it is very easy
At this point you have not changed anything that requires a tune, spent less than $1600 and spent half a day learning about how ridiculously easy or cars are to mod
Next, $110 on a grimmspeed 3port, $180 on a tactrix and you're ready to contact a well known tuner like beeble whose reputation speaks for itself in tuning ra's. A laptop, some time and Adams fee and you'll have the fastest stock turbo ra in WA. 3 ports only take an hour or so to install first time you do one.
My 10c.

Oh, and you do not need to upgrade the spark plugs even if you push up to 180kw (rough max our cars do on 98/stock turbo)

no, thats right, most of us here use the opensource tuning method as it doesnt lock up your ECU exclusively as ecutek does.
the lisence fee was about $800 from memory, i bought an ecutek tune when i didnt know about opensource, from memory it was $1700 all up.
opensource usually doesnt come with a guarantee though unless maybe if it done through a tunehouse.
with opensource u can have diy road tuning, that`ll cost u about $550 including $350 for a great tuner, its not hard if u know computers, just a file upload
opensource doesnt lock up your ECU either sou can change tuners if u want.

I'm a 100% with Marc and Steve on this...that's way too much money to pay for a tune plus those parts. As they have mentioned a good tuner like beeble won't cost more than $500 to tune yr car. I'm sure u can invite beeble to WA for a weekend and pay for his airfares and that would mean you get on of the best tunes for about a grand. That is if you do not want to do it through email. I hear a lot of people have had great success with e-tuning via beeble.
Saying a car is for going form A to B is like saying sex is for reproduction!
I really appreciate the constant feedback guys, I'm still new to all of this and that's exactly why I'm asking for your honest feedback. I don't get why everything over here is soo over priced compared to the east coast. It's a pain in the Ass but at least theres still options available.

Hi Ben
The quote from Tokyo seems quite reasonable when you take into account labour to fit the exhaust, fit the bov, fit the 3port, fit the spark plugs etc etc
There is probably close to 4 hours labour there alone.
The quote I sent you for the UR Turbo back includes freight direct from Canada to your door, and with the current exchange rate that can be a bit more than some expect.
IMO, being able to drive in and out of a reputable tuner, with the knowledge that they have fitted everything perfectly and tuned just as well, would be the option I would choose. Saving a few $$$ trying to do it on the cheap with a new car could end up costing you more in the long run.
Tokyo are a great company to deal with, they know their evo's, and are local to you also. I'm sure you will be very happy with what they can offer.
For anyone who wants to talk to some people who have dealt with me, feel free to pm el3ment, rokpapaziz, Beeble, Citris.87 just to name a few

Thank you for your honesty and for looking into their quote Alan.
I understand where your coming from and appreciate the advice. Your quote is still very tempting but like you said, the exchange rate and shipping can vary from day to day.
Just more food for thought

I have my Evo X looked after by Tokyo motorsports all the time - every service, the retune and upgrades - everything! If something is weird or I have a question - a quick call gets me an answer with no hassles
They know their stuff and back their work 100%
Yeah, I found slightly (very slightly) cheaper options in perth but nothing with this much support.
I cant recommend them highly enough!

Has anyone used gti performance centre in bibra lake?
I got a dyno readout on my eb done there, guy was very helpful, from memory his tunes were 1100 but this was a few years ago,i seem to remember that he tuned and raced his evo in targa wa when it was on.
He also has a money back guarantee on all his tunes for your piece of mind, has a 4 wheel hub dyno too.
