Queensland' Best Driving Roads

Postby craigeth » Tue Jun 14, 2011 3:04 pm

Hey everyone,

While watching some Top Gear today, (the Best Driving Roads episode), I got to thinking what the best roads are around my area, and then, what the best driving roads are around Queensland.

Around Cairns, I have to say that I love the coastal road from Ellis Beach to Port Douglas. The view is awesome, even if it is a bit busy sometimes.

Also, I went up to Malanda yesterday, and there was a couple of beautifully straight, hilly roads where the scenery was beautiful, and straight enough to get up a good speed. Plus fairly quiet too.

Any thoughts?

Springbrook Rd IS alot of fun. However i went through there last weekend and a motorbike had lost control. NOT a pretty site.
A reminder that we are not invincible.

What do ppl think about O'Reilly's drive from Canungra? Left out of Canungra CBD follow Lamington National Park Rd. I love the Kamarun Lookout for views just 5 min before you get to O'Reillys Guesthouse. Any thoughts?
