I'm going to have to pull out at this stage.
Been noticing a few clicks and clacks coming from the front end over the past few weekends.
After reading a bit more into it, noises are very consistent with failed/failing cv joints.... clicking when turning at full lock. clicking at low speed acceleration.
Basically don't want to drive it an hour plus out there only to have it break and get stranded or worse.
Should be a quick fix to replace them but wont be able to get the service done until next Friday.

Oooh that is not good news. Was really looking forward to this car getting a run.
That said, the weather report does not look kind for Saturday either

Ya I'm 90% sure its the cv joints. hopefully just one side, im thinking its the passenger side. More I read up on it the more im convinced. Gonna take a look this weekend and see if can see any rips in the cv boots. Its already making the noises so the cheap boot repair doesn't seem like it'll cut it.
Something tells me it won't fall under warranty when i rock up with my aftermarket rims, coilovers and 300 kw.

Warranty, the word that always pops up in the back of my head.
Spoke to a mechanic I know about getting my springs fitted, performance stuff isn't really his thing. All he spoke about is warranty, warranty, how many k's has your car done? warranty
I'm trying to get the front strut brace changed under warranty atm. Hope they will come to a deal and let me fit aftermarket. But I'm not getting much luck.

are the used MR parts in Aus or US? Either way Good luck and GODSPEED
Glenn wrote:So 800$ per axle from the dealership.... plus labour So found some used ones of an MR for 200$ per axle Then 200$ for 4 oem cv boot rebuild kits just to make everything fresh So depending on how fast the mail system is, I may be back in!!
Aus sourced so possible I'd get them by Friday.
Should only be a 1-2hr job.
Drain sst, take off wheel, unbolt a few bits of the suspension, pull the hub/brake off the drive shaft, swap in new driveshaft, bolt it all back up.
Thanks for the offer Steve but I should be good to just chip away at it. Wouldnt happen to have a 32mm socket would you?

Such a shame Glenn, I was really looking forward to seeing your car have a run. Best of luck getting her back on the road quickly!
I wouldn't be too worried about the weather reports, with all the predictions for out this way I think we've had three showers in the last year, everything seems to go around us. We could do with the rain but for once I'm hoping we don't!
