Now that the weather is colder and the sun disappears earlier, it's about time we hold another night cruise. This one will take us from Brisbane's west up towards Mapleton, passing through the Sunshine Coast hinterland.
The point of departure is the Ironbark Gully park, just off of Samford Road at Ferny Grove. Our destination will be a small lookout/park that should hopefully give us a really nice view of the Sunshine Coast all lit up. There's no official parking at the destination, but Google Maps shows that it's popular enough to have gravel/dirt either side of the road for us to be able to fit maybe a dozen cars or so.
This cruise will cover around 130km and should take us around 2 hours before we reach the lookout. From there it'll be hot drinks and snack food with plenty of opportunities for photos and the like.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING:
UHF radio with working batteries - channel 17
Full tank of fuel
Something warm to wear - it will be bloody cold
Some cash to help cover the cost of the food and hot drinks - we're run by volunteers and many things are often paid for with our own money
*** Be mindful that since this is a night cruise and it's also a mountain run, that you should take care with how you'll be driving. With the recent accident that happened along Mt Nebo, expect there to be the possibility of police. We don't want or need negative attention and stress we don't openly encourage dangerous behaviour on the roads. ***
***** ALERT - Nominations for your new ClubCJ Committee can be made here *****
