Hey guys so I've been meaning to do this for a while but wasn't sure how and i didn't want to mess it up.
So I love spray painting and I really wanted to do some work on my engine bay but I never thought it was possible, because if you look at the covers they are a glossy black plastic cover and i thought the paint would just roll off it haha.
But I've seen a few people have it on here so I was just wondering if :
1) I needed to sand it down? If so what grit would I need and how many sheets? I only buy the wet or dry sand paper so if i do sand it will it be better wet or dry?
2) If I needed primer? If yes is the light grey VHT Engine Primer alright?
3) To clean the plastic covers will I need to use wax and grease remover or anything? Or is soapy water okay?

I used steel wool to lightly scuff up the painting area, then cleaned with wax & grease remover.
Make sure you also spend the extra time to mask the area off with high quality 3M tape, its tedious but sloppy work will show.
Then applied a light coat of plastic primer, followed by 3 coats of colour & then 4 coats of clear topcoat.
Didn't use any fancy high heat paint, just made sure it all cured well & allowed nearly a week before putting the cover back.
My results:

Give it a shot!
