My Fiancee's VY got written off a few years ago, he found that it was cheaper to just get a payout and keep his car to get fixed by one of his bro's friends then to get the bodyworks to repair it, Car at the time was insured for $11,700, pretty sure for memory they capped it at 10,800 and said that it was going to cost too much to fix,
Worst part is, I got a quote from the bodyworks the other day to get my door fixed and they charge for the removal of parts and for repairing them or replacing them, and then for putting them back on >_< It is incredibly expensive!
