carbonfibre bonnet illegal in NSW?

Postby RAwannabe » Tue Jan 25, 2011 10:25 am

I've been told all these years CF is illegal mod is illegal in NSW, but I also see more and more cars with CF hood and trunklid on the street, so is it true or not we can not do that in NSW, what ab other state?

you can use CF skin over a fibreglass frame, or even a steel frame, just take the skin off the bonnet or boot, and replace with carbon fibre< but yes a full carbon fibre bonnet/boot is illegal. the reasoning is because they splinter when they break, causing very sharp edges. If you hit a pedestrian and he breaks the bonnet it will slice him/her up very badly. Same as if you crash head on the carbon fibre will shatter.

Thats my perceived idea on the law of CF bonnets.

I will gladly stand corrected if anyone knows any different.
