Tarq's VR CJ - Shopped for ideas....

Postby Tarquin » Wed Jan 14, 2009 7:51 pm

Heya all....

With the recent talk and chatter about vinyls and colours for the front section of your bumper, I decided to do some more shop work on an image of mine and came up with some 'wish list' images to help make a decision.....

Let me know what you think !!?

Original Shot (about a week after pick-up)

Photoshopped with Carbon Grill insert and bumper covers... Angel Eyes, Vinyl Eye Lids and some wheels as well....

Same as above, but with a Chrome front end....

Only go chrome if you get the chrome surrounds for the top and bottom grills OR do as Ozie did and surround the entire section, otherwise it doesn't look right

I like the second one but also think the whole thing ina matt grey would look awesome like the red car in Club CJs top banner

Love the replacement logo

Yeah I don't have the silver surround like you, and I'm not a fan of the stick on chrome edging myself... I think a CF vinyl or a matte gray vinyl might be the better idea.

The top grill inlay is a product you can buy online and comes in a CF finish,, but $120 something USD.... so not sure....

Ralliart logo looked better than their logo....

Great Choppin Tarquin keep em coming..
i really like the chrome with the black. you could get away without the chrome grill surrounds i suppose..
and the plate looks really good there covering those holes in the grill....nice work.

Ok..... The wife didn't like the Mags too much... GAH !!!

So I've done what I was thinking of possibly doing... Gun Metal Grey paiting of the existing VR Mags... - Not ideal, but cheap... :-)

If I went down the CF Sports grille, I'd get the front section as well or get some CF vinyl to match it.

Like I said, I'm not a fan of the add-on chrome edging, but to bring out the Chrome, the existing grills could be painted silver, or even changed for a Billet material... see below....
*Also still with Angel Eyes but shopped with a lower suspension on painted rims..... Needs bigger Rims... :-(

Mine's the best I think. Lowered, 18" version of same rim, RA Lancer Grille (would need to be modified to fit however)

:D

Try Mat black, chrome is too try hard. Carbon fiber would look OK! but you would need to have more around the car (mirrors, etc..) or again... too try hard.

Please don't take this as a personal attack at you, just my opinions because you were asking for them

Morning all, you didn't think I'd let this post slip through my net did you?

Tarquin my firend you need to finalise in your own head the look and long term plans of this project. If you want a street racer go carbon fibre and finish it off with a CF front splitter - gun metal grey wheels will look great also.

If you want the VIP look then go chrome - but go all or nothing. Get the chrome window lip from the Aspire, and chrome top and bottom grills. To see what this will look like knick Ozies photochop of HOGGYS car and get someone to change the paint to black - should give you a good idea. Don't go chrome if the street racer look is what you after. Finally if you do go chrome, then it is one big slab of chrome accross the front, you really should break it up with something - maybe try and get the Evo X front, at least it has two wholes it it to break it up? Or leave the nummber plate there

Want subtle and stylish? copy the Evo X option and go matt grey throughout.

Want to stand out, the sex look? introduce a whole new colour. What would that whole section in Mitsu red look like? Don't do the mesh though

See I can be constructive. You are lucky, black can lend itself to whatever look you want

However DON'T whack Ralliart stickers/logo's on your car if it isn't!!

I agree Oz, its never been done before and it may look good, but chrome on the black like that will be so "IN YOUR FACE" that I think people will look at it and "LOL"

Again its a vinyl so it can be removed if desired results are not what you wanted

it would look sick on your grey too pierre..
This Chrome thing is funny, some people love it..other people hate it with a passion.lol.
If you are trying to get a different/Unique look, then more power to you...
i think if it looks good, bloody go for it! and this idea looks great.
Anyhow keeping the positive vibe going......
haha i think it needs more chrome around the outside, like the Ralliart Version grill..

It may not have been done on a CJ but it doesn't look that bad on the VW Passat
