I'd look into getting the existing turbo high flowed... you'll gain quite a bit from it. Otherwise.. look into the MHI turbo

Depends on your power targets - you could go an EF4 if seriously high kw is all you are after. If you just want more of a kick, with minimal installation fuss and reasonable drivability then maybe a BBX, or if you want to keep spool as early as possible then maybe a BBX-Lite?

Dont bother unless you are doing all supporting mods for it....
You want best gain value for money do this
Port, Polish and Ceramic Coat Manifold
Port, Polish and Ceramic Coat Turbo
Custom, high flow oil feed line, oil return line, water feed line, water return line
Turbosmart 18psi aquator
Retune
And hello 250kw at the wheels, cost, about $2.5K depending on who does the work,

GT pumps in sydney $1400, you send him your X turbo, he machines the housings, installs bigger wheels, and you have a +35kw turbo which spools about 200rpm slower than stock
probably the cheapest, reliable upgrade out there
5MT will get 300kw on E85, 250-260kw on 98 (assuming 220kw on stock turbo and 98)

Why not just the Garrett bolt on?

in a word.... lag
the garrets are super reliable turbos. and for a bolt on solution for someone who will beat on the turbo they are very very good.
but if you look at say the Forced Performance turbos as a comparison :
the GTX3071 will get you same/slightly better top end power than a Green. but a Green hits 25psi at 3500-3600 in 3rd gear. a GTX3071 won't get there until 3800-3900 at best, about the same as a Red
A GTX3076 will get slightly better/same power as a Red
the Red will hit 25psi at 3800rpm in 3rd. The GTX3076 is after 4000, in fact about the same as Black.
so if you sit above 5000rpm the garrett GTX turbos will level peg the FP equivalent in terms of top end power and on/off throttle response.
But for that same top end power, the midrange simply can't compete as they take longer to get up to speed... so on the street they feel a bit doughy for the power they make up top, compared to some of the competition.

Can you do this in Melbourne with a RA turbo? Similar to the CBRD upgrade in the states?

^^ I don't know anyone local doing high flows for RA turbos like the RAD stuff from CBRD
but I am sure if there was some interest, someone like Mark would have a crack at it.
The down side is the RA snail is single scroll - so by increasing flow to say evo X rates , like the RAD turbo, it does get quite a bit laggier than the twin scroll evoX turbo.
Although I've tuned a few RADs now, they weren't too bad in terms of spool to be honest.
