*CLOSED* Group Buys -> Relaunched

Background
Since the Whiteline/Repco con job performed by former QLD member SIR-VRX aka Adrian Tripp, we've seen a dramatic loss of faith in the group buy system. We've seen a sudden "drying" up of these purchases.

Despite my best efforts to relaunch it via a replacement Whiteline swaybar purchase, it is still much less than what we used to have.

We now have in our ranks many new members, some of whom have PM-ed me wondering what has happened to a once successful group buy system.

I am proposing relaunching group buys again.

Proposals
I would also like to see more group dispatching i.e. to 1 single address to cut the costs of delivery.

Additionally, I would suggest no longer restricting it to a single item but a group of items.

The items, I'm going to suggest for this round are as follows:

1. Dash Dandy

Image

For maintaining dust free dash boards and restoring that new car lustre to your plastics.

RRP-> Not for public sale but £4.15 (or A$6.32 in the UK) and RRP of A$16 in Au.
CCJ GB-> ~ A$

2. KYB Shocks

3. Rotors and brake pads - DBA and EBC/Mintex respectively

4. Spark Plugs - NGK Iridiums

Image

Models->
2.0L = FR6EI-11 suggested to be ~ A$7.69each at trade.
2.4L = FR5EI

RRP=A$
CCJ GB=A$

5. Mitsubishi consumable for servicing:
- Coolant
- Brake Fluid
- Oil Filter
- Sump Plug Washer

6. Mitsubishi OEM Parts
- Pocket Sunglass Holder

EOI List:
NSW - Chubb
QLD - Milobob, megatron x2

Let's see how we go... .

I might be interested in 1 to 4 depending on when is the GB.

I thought I'd just chime in and say that I support the GB system and think it's great. Maybe as a suggestion we stick to doing big items or items where a decent discount can be had. Whilst a lot of people want the sunglass holder for example, at $40, I don't think there's that much wiggle room in terms of discount/savings yet it can create a huge burden on CCJ to manage the GB.

@ JaCe: I don't disagree. But often when I post things using TransDirect, I find with any box, I can still get by on their charge of A$29.80.

So even if we can't save on parts prices, I think the savings on courier is worth the while.

Apparently I've been led to believe otherwise.

oh ok. i just had a look and they dont list any part from the stock replacements, i know i emailed them last year and they didnt have any.

But your always in the know.

but ontopic,

i think one problem is that you have done all the really good group buys before, so most members have the items ie Exhaust, sway bars and other bracing. so its only the new members who will be interested.
But will there be a big enough savings to get people interested in the smaller items like the plugs, dash cleaner, etc

Googled the name kleanthis gave me, and this was what came up.

Is that what we're talking about?

Good point mate. As long as you reckon it's a worthwhile saving then sure- I just don't want you (or the club) bending over backwards to save small change relative to the cost of time and effort.

@JaCe: Just to add to that, if I have to send a partially empty box to NSW, the effort to fill it up makes little difference to the cost.

Each week I get orders for OEM Mitsubishi parts and I think why not we group ship these things? It'll help members meet up and get together each time there's a shipment. There are so many things people buy which are usually from the same distributor and it could help make a difference in the levels of discounts companies can do. A$10 savings overall may make little difference to you and I but for a student on his first car, the A$10 could be the difference between buying or otherwise.

We'll see how it goes.

Working on listings and pricing now.

Fair enough- As you're the one who ultimately will be doing the hard yards for the club, I leave it to your professional judgment on this.
