Ok everyones sharkfins have been sent via Registered Post. I have held back the 2 QLD ones and will bring up on the 2nd Jan to save a bit of coin.

It cost each person $8.65 I will PM you my bank details for reimursement.
This included a padded bag. The sharkfins are in 3 layers of bubblewrap including the bag, so they should not get damaged.

Cheers.

wouldnt these sharkfins decrease your radio reception? as you are removing your antenna to put them on, so you only have the base of your antenna as your new antenna, then covering it with plastic/fiberglass. giving you worse reception, then with out it on and having a full reception.
IF YOUR NOT LIVING ON THE EDGE YOUR TAKING UP TOO MUCH ROOM

The unit has an internal antenna the screws into the factory base.

I got one some time back for my wifes SP23 when we had it, couldn't really notice any difference in reception quality so they are a good thing.

A comparison here:

http://matrixowners.com/lofiversion/index.php/t64866.html

If I was fitting one, I'd find a weak station on each of the AM and FM bands, then fit the shark fin (without removing the backing from the 3M tape) and check those stations again to see if reception was worse/better/the same. If its satisfactory, properly fit the shark fin.

Do the comparison test during the day, because at night reception distance on the AM band is different, and is affected by fading and interference.

I expect FM reception would be about the same between the shark fin and stock antenna but reduced on the AM band, where the longer/larger the antenna the better.

If anyone does this comparison with weak AM & FM stations, post your results.

Everything Tin_Pusher has said makes sense with my Sharkfin.

If you don't listen to AM, you shouldn't have a problem.

Since all fins have been dispatched, I'm closing this thread till the next GB.

If you have not recieved your fin, please PM me.

GPS has its own antenna.

This will only affect the radio reception. From what I have heard if you are in a low radio reception then this mod is not for you.

For those who live in capital cities it should be fine.
