regardless, have seen them in the flesh and you don't need to worry about the brightness, weather or not they're THAT bright you can decide for yourself, but they are VERY bright at least - I have a 6 LED... that's not just dull, it's almost pointless, but 2x30's up front (VRX ) or 1x60 is way way bright... (i see your point bout the photo)

I'd like to add my 2cents on this:
First off, I don't know if a 60LED would fit into our overhead light set. I didn't get it as I thought it would make it too bright. I am actually using only 2X30LEDs in the map lights. These LEDs as JazzyB has said when he's seen them are EXTREMELY bright, so much so that too much of it may hurt your eyes. I've actually left the normal yellow light festoon in the overhead set and I can still light up most of the car
I too am skeptical of alot of claims people make about online products and the prices people pay for them.
In this case, I'd have to say that:
a) the other light source is a courtesy light (this picture isn't a CJ)
b) Light travels in straight lines.
c) The brightness you see in the bottom right hand corner of the 1st pic is "throwing" its light towards the front which is why from the angle the picture was taken, the intensity is brightest facing it. The curvature of the seat and the lack of light along the same axis as it doesn't seem to be prevalent and it is darker as we move along that same axis. Some diffused light might be permeating along that axis.
d) As mentioned, the angle of the shadow of the steering wheel does imply most of the light in that corner is coming from the overhead light.
e) So while the light up at the furthest corner may not be entirely from the overhead LED lights, you'd have to say its partially from it and in a car like the CJ, where there isn't a side door courtesy light, you'd have to agree it will be the "main source" and light up quite abit more than your single bulb festoon.
IMHO though a 60 LED one would be too bright and result in you hurting your eyes each time it came on.
