The Uniden ones rekon they will get a 4K range and ive tested them and got bout 1K in residential areas

sigh i dont like webmarshal.

5W is the largest legal UHF radio anyone without the UHF licence/training can hold. 5W you will get about 2km over extreamly rugged terrain like mountains trees.

everything affects the range, powerlines trees buildings mountains. birds lol, but if you buy say a cheap $20 UHF radio say its like .2-.5W if yuo have lost sight of them, then they wont be able to hear you either. they will be out of range. id proably say its would be best to buy either a 1 or 2W to keep it cheeper and for the better range.

you can proably pic up a cheap 2W for around 90-150 i think

I have a set of pink Dora the explorer walkie/talkies and they work from the house to the cubby house in the back yard. :lol:

I have the cheapie Uniden CB and it works fine for cruises. I think it is the same as what Adrian has...
