Due to the restructure - there really are no pre-existing holders.

I assume you're gesturing towards the SA position. There was both Shamoo and aspir3 pre-existing as state moderators. Who to choose? Best it go to election to vote.

Well if a candidate could not be bothered to respond then they should be removed from the voting for that position.

just noticed that Doreen has put in 2 noms for QLD rep, not that it matters as one said no and the other didnt respond

Pete, if one says no to running and the other doesnt reply, then there is no one to run for that position?

In the past we have had a renomination and election process for unfilled positions...

Troubling is that we will have no MLO.
But I guess that's not the main issue.
It's about something else... .

Doreen put in multiple nominations for a few positions, I guess she was torn by indecision or thought multiple candiates were worthy. I had to check the constitution and there was nothing against it and I saw nothing out of line about it, so I let it slide.

As for unfilled positions, they definately will be filled (we wont be operating on ad hoc arrangements like last year) - once the new management committee meets we will attempt to re-fill the MLO role as it's part of snr exec. As for the SA role, depending on activity, it may be re-allocated to another more "in needs" region with more activity. As you know Adelaide is smaller than Perth.
Perhaps it might make more sense to re-allocate the position to ACT in light of its recent spurt in activity of members. I'm not sure if the SA membership have been hamstrung by past management, but it's odd none of them even endorsed existing moderators or attempt to put forward alternatives.
We really need to shift our thinking and move positions based on our member needs rather than backward colonial thinking of the states are more important than regions/territories. Again this will be a senior management discussion and we'll decide how to move forward on that decision.. right now things are a bit in the air...

Doreen, i read it as 1 nomination per position and 1 self nomination

so u get a vote for each state rep, Pres, MLO, etc.... and one vote for yourself if u wish to run

I think it was 1 self nom, but there was no limits on nominating someone else.

I'll clarify, the nominee could only select 1 peer nomination but also could run for 1 additonal SELF nomination - which means two possible races you could be in.
Which was different to my original, run only for 1 race, regardless of if it was a self nomination or a peer nomination, which you could pick of your choosing.
