Story goes a bloke in his 20s got this from his parents. Could not afford to insure it. He lost it in the wet coming over a hill at high speed, and plowed into a tree. He is stupid for 2 reasons. 1. Not insuring it. 2. Driving like a dickhead in it on public roads. He was not hurt, just a bit shaken and shocked.

If it's a part out I've got dibs on the instrument cluster, dash and door trims and the front rear seats. haha

But it's not getting parted out AFAIK.

We see this thing all too often. People that think they can handle a high powered car they were just given / bought. Not insuring it...... More and more people aren't insuring their cars now-a-days simply because they can't afford to. Depending on his age (21-24) it would be around $1200-1800 a year and thats more than people can manage, but for christ's sake, if you inherit a brand new evo, you cut back on other expenses to make sure you cover the most expensive possession you have. At least he got out alive. You can always make more money later, but you can't if your dead! I can't believe he isn't chopping this up for parts. How else is he going to make some money back from this lump of scrap??
Looks like it still has some good bits left on it.

Yeah, I think insurance would be more than that. Try like $2500. My mate inquired when he was looking at either a RA or an Evo. He is the same age as me. The only company that would insure him was AAMI. And it was not much cheaper for a RA then an Evo. He since got a Volvo C30 T5, and once again, only AAMI would insure it, and that is $1300 IIRC.

As I don't know the guy personally I don't know what he is going to do down the track. But I don't need to know him to know he isn't the sharpest tool in the shed!

The horn looks 100% undamaged!

Also confirms location of passenger air bag at top of dash.
