I've had these pics for a while but only recently got permission to post them on the net. They were taken at a Police testing track and station where highway patrol vehicles are evaluated.
The Evo X is on proper trial and also appeared recently on the Police stand at the Sydney Easter Show.
I have also seen pics of it with the light bar, but none of these have it with the lights fitted I'm afraid.
Victoria is also trialling a similar unit.
Interesting it has red tail light assembly - I thought Evo would have had the black Ralliart style ones.... hope you liked it.

Now the VRX bandits wont have a chance if they actually start using Evo Xs
Whilst being alot quicker around town I imagine they'd be more fuel economic than the XR6T and SS

Me LIKE!!! - but I hope I don't see it in my rear view mirror with the lights going!! You'd be hard pressed not seeing it - Nice bright livery!!
Thanks for sharing Bandit

So how do the cops find them for their duties?
RE the tail-lights: The MY09 models got the blackened ones, the same time the RA came out.

The Vic ones look better. And the fluro orange looks photoshopped in the first pic due to the checks

That car looks like it belongs to some Croatian Nationalist Group.

The only thing that makes that cop car cool is that its an evo x. Nothing else.

I can assure you there's no photoshopping done here.
I personally think the NSW version is nicer - more understated (if you can say that about a car with stickers all over it!) but still getting the message across.
When it has the light bar on, it's only a 2 inch high LED only bar, which looks a lot better than the fat Victorian one too.
As for the status - I'll see what I can find out. I am a member of a police vehicle enthusiasts club as well (yes I am weird). Last I heard they loved it, but can't get the car past the image it's there for fun not serious policing. I guess that's also a reason why the WRX trial in NSW from a few years ago didn't last all that long either.

The failure of the WRX I believe had more to do with the fact that they had to refund 1000s of speeding infringements because the speedo's in the WRX at the time were out...

hmm ok - first I have heard of that. You'd think they would have checked the speedo before ordering them.... !

When I first read this I thought "What!" but realised that police cars really do look fanatastic not matter what they are. And as for being weird - you can't be weirder than me. What 49 year old woman comes onto car forums just for the fun of it.
