No problems, there is no right or wrong... I have loads of books, if anyone bothers to read them anymore (there is just so much online these days!). There are other good rules to follow, sure you could google them. Such as framing, simplicity, texture, colours and (my fav) leading lines...

good to see a cj shot back up
i didnt have a monopod or tripod when i got the cricket shot but i do now
i got a cheap monopod off a friend who use to sell cameras he piced it up cheap and passed it onto me. and a little wile ago i got meself a quite solid sherpa tripod for a good price.
im realy likeing this thred we get to pick brains about photography
id give adrian +1 for starting it but if he got any more i think he would explode

I'd recommend Gorillapods too. They don't look it, but they're pretty versatile and light.
