Morning all,
Noticed this morning that my boot lid doesn't seem to sit flush with my rear bumper. It sort of seems like one side sits off the bumper more than the other side. Basically where the bottom of the boot meets the rear bumper.
If you look here Ive put arrows to where im talking about:

Ive done no damage to either my boot or my rear bumper so Im wondering if I take this to my Mitsubishi dealer would they be likely fix it free of charge? Because to me it seems like a factory defect, even though i havent noticed it until almost a year from the purchase date.
Could anyone shed light on this? Do you think I would have to pay for the labour for the realignment?
I will post a pic later tonight, couldnt get around to it this morning.

Took it out to the dealer yesterday, basically they ackowledged that there was a slight issue with the bumper but put it down to it essentially being a issue related to our cars being mass manufactured. Basically a these things happen with cars built in large numbers.
He said they could take a look next time I bring it in which wont be until at least the 24th cause they all booked up. However he said after 3000 km issues like this I may be charged for, this I wasnt impressed about seeing as how it came outta the factory like that.
Not sure if ill do anything about it, i looked at a few differnt lancers today on the way to work and noticed some had the same issue, so looks like its not a one off issue at least.
Mind you took me just over a year to even notice it and i drive it everyday so its not really bothering me to much.
I might get the bodyshop im gettin my side skirts, air dams and VG installed at take a quick look when im getin that stuff installed.

I don't see how being mass manufactured affects the quality of the work.
It's strange how they had that 3000 km rule though, as things can shift and settle over time and can be directly related to manufacturing or design issues.
If it's happening on other cars though, then I wouldn't worry too much about it. It'll be only an issue if it affects how the boot lid operates.

Yeah theres no issues with the boot lid, no water gettin in or closing issues.
Im still get someone to look at it eventually, but like I said im not to fussed about it because it took me this long to notice it and only because i was staring at the rear bumper thinkin of how a rear diffuser would look.

Hey all,
apologies for resurrecting an old thread, but i am still dealing with this issue of the boot lid not sitting flush with the rear bumper. Or more specifically it appears to be a rear bumper issue not the boot lid.
Should this be covered under my warranty? I have made no mods to the rear bar, or takin any damage to the rear bar. Ive got a few thousand km's till im due for my 15k service but im thinkin of gettin it looked at some time soonish.
Its actually bugging me quite a bit now, especially when i see other lancers with perfect fitting rear bars.
thanks for anyone who can assist here.

A picture would help but you're clearly within your first 15000km which means the car is still under warranty, bring it in to see your dealer's service engineer.
