Adventures of your Chief Buyer

Postby ofey » Tue Aug 10, 2010 10:37 pm

Here are some strange conversations I've had with people who've asked me for parts and stuff.

I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I have had dealing with them.

I've protected everyone's identity to protect their rep but I guess you know who you are... .

1. Price Matching
XXXX: Hi can you price match on the XXXXXX?
ofey: Sure I'll try. Can you send me a pdf or picture of the quote and let me know the company you're getting it from?
XXXX: No I can't, that's private. Else you'd be buying from them directly and selling on to me.
ofey : *speechless*

2. Free Postage
XXXX: Can you cover the postage to QLD?
ofey: If it means that much to you, I'll absorb the postage. Please send payment to the account below.
XXXX: Can you send first to this address? NSW address provided. I'll pay you when I get paid at the end of the week.
ofey: But you live in QLD!?
XXXX: Sending it to a mate's place, I'm driving there to get it installed.
ofey: How about you send me payment first?
XXXX:Don't worry I'll send you the cash. I just want to make sure it's there before I get there.
ofey: Sorry you only have 0 posts on this forum, I can't take that risk.
XXXX: Chickenshit
ofey: *speechless*

3. Free Postage 2
Background - As many of you know there was an offer for MMCS 16 Map Discs.
XXXX: Since you're sending me the disc, can I piggy back some of my own orders so I don't have to pay for postage? These parts won't add to the weight I think.
ofey: *speechless*

4. Real or Fake?
XXXX: How come your price is so low? My local Mitsu dealer has warned me that there are alot of fakes on the market.
ofey: Sure there are fakes but I get these parts from our club sponsor PMR. I can provide you a copy of my receipt.
XXXX: How does the receipt prove it's genuine? You may buy a genuine part but swap it over for the fake before sending it to me! I'm not that stupid to fall for the switcheroo.

By the way this is for an audio control switch.

ofey: These are the original. You can check it when you recieve it. Anything wrong, please feel free to report me to the forum.
XXXX: By the time, it gets here you would be far and away with my money.
ofey: Why would I con you for A$115? If I ran away for A$115, I think my life is pathetic.
XXXX: Yes you are pathetic! Trying to con me. Mitsubishi sell this part at over A$200. Who'd get it for A$115?
ofey: *speechless*

5.Discount?
XXXX: Hi, I have a MMCS, I'd like to buy the reverse camera system and the iPod cable.
ofey: Please find quote below, transfer the money and I'll purchase and send. Please also send me your name, add, tel.
No more contact for 1 week.
XXXX: Hi I've decided to purchase the parts, can you send me the quote again?
ofey: Please find quote below, transfer the money and I'll purchase and send. Please also send me your name, add, tel.
XXXX: Can you send me a picture of the reverse camera harness?
ofey: here you go... .
XXXX: Do you have instructions for the install of the reverse camera?
ofey: here you go.... .
XXXX: 400?
ofey: huh?
XXXX: You said A$455, A$400 and I buy immediately
ofey: I'm not a business. So if you don't pay for your mods, would you be thinking that I should?
XXXX: No but surely when you buy something you ask for a discount? Why are you so bothered?
ofey: Tell you what, why don't you go ask from your dealer all the questions you asked me to provide? Then tell him you're only willing to pay A$400? I already told you I'm not a business. Do you think I'm profiting hugely from this? Please bear in mind, I provide a service!
XXXX: I will contact you again when I have A$455.
ofey: *speechless*

6.You sure?
XXXX: I've been told you can help get the paddle shifters for a CVT Lancer. Could you let me know how much delivered to Canada?
ofey: *Quote provided*
XXXX: I'll get back to you if you're the cheapest.
ofey: I don't think I'll be the cheapest since posting for you is from Au to Canada? Well let me know.
XXXX: Are the paddle shifter's the same as those in a RA?
ofey: Yes
XXXX: Are the paddle shifter's the same as those in a Evo SST?
ofey: Yes
XXXX: Last thing .. Would all paddle shifters be the same ? From GTS to Evo ?
ofey: Yes
XXXX: I found a set for sale on eBay and they come off an Evo SST. Are you sure they're the same part?
ofey: You can go find out yourself. I tell you a couple of times that it is and you keep doubting me.
So why bother asking?

7. Payment via PayPal
So this guy owes me A$40.
XXXX: Sorry but i'm short it'll take me awhile to pay you back.
waits 2 weeks before
ofey: Hi, I'm about to dispatch out the parts, if you don't pay me, I'll have to withhold your part
XXXX: i'll pay via PayPal. Please send details
ofey: here are my details XXXX. Make sure you send abit more if you're paying via credit card or a foreign balance as paypal will fleece you charges.

Paypal Payment 1:
Amount received:$40.00 AUD
Fee amount:-$1.26 AUD
Net amount: $38.74 AUD

ofey: Hi, as you can see you're still short by A$1.26. Please send funds ASAP
XXXX: I only have A$1.06 left in my account, I'll send that first and send the remainder later

Paypal Payment 2:
Amount received:$1.06 AUD
Fee amount:-$0.33 AUD
Net amount:$0.73 AUD

By this time, the guy has already paid in access of A$40.
but total reaching me A$39.47

XXXX: Sorry but can I pay you the remaining 50cents some other time?

So now I'm 50cents out of pocket. Paypal though has pocketed A$1.59 thanks to our friend here.
I don't hold much hope recovering my 50cents.

8.Group Buy Headlights

XXXX wrote:Hello chief!
Just thought I'd post something interesting for you here. Both are very cheap in price. Wonder if we can somehow contact the supplier and start a group buy on these. I'm sure plenty of people are interested in changing to HID with these.

http://www.alibaba.com/product-free/117 ... EX_08.html

ofey wrote:OK, I share your belief many people will be interested to get projectors
My first 2 questions would be: Have you dealt with these sellers? And can you vouch for their quality?

For the first link the Taiwanese Headlight shell supplier:
1. A quick check reveals their address doesn't exist.
2. On the Taiwan Company database, their company isn't registered with the Taiwanese government. Same as an Au company which doesn't have a ABN?
3. They want payment via Western Union which offers very little protection for the buyer. Most Nigerian scams also utilise Western Union.
4. NT600 or 600 Taiwanese dollars is A$19.39. Makes you wonder what you're going to get. They are offering to sell you a projector headlamp for A$19.39?

The 2nd link is for what supposedly is a Singaporean Company i.e. Singapore Automotive Parts Co. Ltd.
1. Contact person is a caucasian name i.e. Andy Smith. Address is listed in Singapore as that of a Shopping centre (I know because I'm from Singapore originally). If you go to the Shopping Centre's website, they're NOT listed as a tenant. Their website then takes you to a Chinese Company called Danyang. Kinda suspicious if you ask me.

2. Based on the link you sent me, they are selling 12V halogen bulbs. NOT the light unit. So US$26 each (or A$48.28 for the pair) for a China made brand (Geling - Not listed anywhere in Google) bulb is not quite what people on this forum will be looking for. In the recent group buy you could get Philips XTreme power for A$43.50 for 2 bulbs! So what's the sale there with this link? I think the title of the page is misleading.

So might take abit of work to get them sold here. As the club's Chief Buyer, I owe it to the members to practice due diligence. The risk is too much for me say anything good atm, unless you're willing to front the cash and we pay you? I would love to get projector headlamps for A$20.

9. Over-zealous RA owner
XXXX: Hi, I'd like to buy a new set of paddle shifters for my RA. I accidentally scratched mine with my ring.
ofey: *provides quote*
XXXX: That part number is the same you used in the DIY paddle shifter thread. I need the RA part.
ofey: They're the same. The RA uses the same parts. Actually many parts on the RA, including the chassis and wheels are the same as a VRX.
XXXX: Surely NOT! What are you talking about? The RA wheel is NOT the same as the VRX wheel. My dealer has told me that they only look the same but the RA one uses a lighter alloy.
ofey: I assure you they are the same. I hate to tell you everything is the same short of the body kit and the engine.
XXXX: I'll get back to you with a new part number. No car company in the world would use a lower spec part in their premium cars.

*never heard from member again*

10. You're "super nice" and impossible"

This one is an epic:

Hi:

I am interested in some accessories for my Lancer 2011. I guess it is a mitsubishi lancer sx my11 exactly like the picture: http://www.themotorreport.com.au/conten ... b878c2.jpg

The accessories include:

carpet mats (Rally Art)
rear bumper strip and Scuff Guard Boot Flap
bonnet protector
seat covers

Please let me know how the prices system work and what is the total of the items and how to make the payment.

Regards,

ofey wrote:Please read this:

Thanks, it seems you are super nice. I will buy the parts on a Mitsubishi dealer. A few bucks can't replace a good experience. Good luck with your sales.

ofey wrote:Thank you for your reply.

I'd like very much to improve the experience for newbies then.

I thought I was VERY courteous and the link explains really how everything can get done.

Obviously you're not the first who has had a problem with the way I handle sales and you certainly won't be the last but your the first who seems willing to tell me just what is wrong.

So what more information was I short of?
What other things must I do to make it a better experience of buying?

Hi:

Thanks for the kind reply. I understand that your job here is more to help people to find accessories than an actual business. I went through the readings and tried to get the most information to avoid wasting your time on things that are already said. As I do not know how the costs work, I was just expecting a reply from you telling me the total cost, how to pay them and where to pick them up (as I am in Melbourne). Maybe you can have an email template with the payment/pickup details. The things I look after are:

headlamp protectors
floor mats ralliart
bonnet protector
seat covers front + rear
rear bumber protection foil
Scuff Guard Boot Flap

Regards,

ofey wrote:As I pointed out in that thread reply, the parts you're asking for nearly ALL are listed in the OEM parts thread:
http://clubcj.net/viewtopic.php?t=1131

So if you clicked through to that page, you know you want headlamp protectors, what you do is you search that page by simply pressing Ctrl+F or Cmd+F (if you're on a Mac). Type in headlamp protectors and it will search the page for the part. Highlight the part and copy and paste in your PM to me:

MR935658 - Headlamp protectors
RRP= A$70+
CCJ= A$55.00

What that tells me is you want that part number.
The RRP tells you what your local dealer is told to sell it for.
The CCJ price is what you need to pay me for a set.

You repeat it for all the parts and you will get a list like that:

1. MR935658 - Headlamp protectors
RRP= A$70+
CCJ= A$55.00

2. RA Logo CVT/SST-> MZ360274EX CARPET MAT SET RA Mark
RRP = A$88.90+
CCJ = A$82.00

3. MR935657 - Bonnet protector
RRP=A$77+
CCJ= A$60.00

4. MR936409 - Front
RRP=
CCJ= A$220.00

5. MR936410
RRP=
CCJ= A$280.00

6. MZ314076 Rear Bumper Protection Foil
RRP= A$35.4+
CCJ= A$32.00

7.DS000431 Scuff Guard Boot Flap
RRP=A$47+
CCJ=A$45.00

Starting the calculator app, you simply add up all the CCJ amounts: A$774.00

The template I did provide in the first link I sent to you:

ofey wrote:No you haven't.
I mean I've done everything you've asked for.
But you still had a go at me?

and are you ordering the stuff using what I typed out for you?

Sorry Man, that does it. I will not continue with this for you are impossible.

Regards,

ofey wrote:i'm sorry too.

I don't see where I've been impossible at all.

So in summary first he claims my response is rude, then unclear, then when I show him all information is presented, he goes back to me being impossible.
Worst still, he uses the information I put in for him to order (clearly he knows how to copy and paste!)

Really :roll:

LOL @ updated #4. I hate humanity..... however my pesimistic mantra (at times) has been "All people are f*kced until proven otherwise...." seems to hold up quite well in this thread... LOL.
