Motivation
In a bid to get more going on the site, I'm going to start a new series of discussions called: This or That.

Description
Each week, I'm going to put up two things up for comparison. They may well be from different generations, food groups, brand names or even movies but you will be asked to plump for one or the other.

Each series and discussions will run for 1 week (as will the poll). All discussions will be archived after each week and the thread reset.

Hope
To encourage a friendly debate and discussion series. Everyone might learn something new through this.

Never liked HJ. They microwaved their meat patties.

Coming back on topic, I don't like either of those burgers.

It might well be the HJ's I have in my area. The franchise's are old and they don't do a good job so it's not quite a fair fight.

But I will try and approach this from a food perspective. Granted both burgers are nowhere near local Burger franchises such as Grill'd but for a fast food burger, they've both raised the proverbial bar.

In a direct comparison between the basic constituents :

Bread -> For me Macca's is a clear winner here. The bun actually retains its integrity thoughout my chomping. The wierd orange dust on the HJ one seems strange.

Cheese -> Now here's where this gets difficult. I've noted that the Macca's cheese tends to stay as cheese slices while the HJ one melts into the angus. So since I prefer melted cheese on my burgers, the point goes to HJ.

Angus -> Ahhh the crux of it. The actual slab of meat. I went for a single slice of on my HJ's burger so it'd be a fair comparison. I did find the Macca's slab more juicy which kinda explains why they had to have a better bun. I do notice that the HJ burger tends to be more well done and crisper. And with the cheese melted in, the burger patty's flavour is accentuated.

Salad -> Now this one would really depend on the restaurant. I've had really bad salads on HJ burgers. Though Maccas more often than not has had the better salad. Fresher veges. Maccas would edge this. Though one shouldn't forget the onion rings on the HJ version. A tie?

Sauces-> Maccas puts 2 dolops of mayo and 1 dolop of mustard whilst BK just lathers a whole bunch of mayo. Maccas here.

Overall package-> So my vote to HJ!

Angry Angus is a bit on the small side. I get the Grand Angus when I go to Maccas, but it's really because it's the closest thing to a proper burger there is. Tuckshop burgers are still the best.

everything from HJ's is crappy reheated crap they never actually cook anything when you order.

IMO HJ's is allot more unhealthy then maccas, as it also is in most of thoes weight watchers thinggys, they also say all of HJ's burgers are worse then maccas equiv

eat any burger at HJ's and you cant breath from the oil you have ingested. where as maccas, you can at least breath after most burgers
