Does the amp have any fuses?
Check those.
Check the simple things in life like all audio settings on the header unit. Check fade/cross over settings etc.
Can you get access to the rear of the amp? Are any wires loose and touching the frame of the amp?

With the Rockford system, does the external amp effect all speakers or just the bass? Will it work if connected to a say an ES without an amp and what else would be needed, besides the rear camera.

pretty sure it runs all speakers and the sub in the boot, I'll take a pic of mine today and upload for you sarusa. I think it is all canbus so all the controls can talk to each other without a million miles of cables through the car.

Is it worth picking up a Rockford from someone who has gone to up market system, and willing to part company with the disused Rockford.
Or would it be wiser to go after market, for the extra dosh. Or would just 4 quality speakers be good enough.
My hearing is crap, expected at my age! 42 X 2 and hearing aids are limited in what they can pick up. Rather a narrow sound band. :D

The Rockford factory system is very average.
You are better off with aftermarket

Compared to some of the cars I've owned and driven in, the Rockford system is all right, from custom systems I've had to re do because the previous owner was a muppet, down to my first car which I had two front speakers and a couple of house speakers in the boot run off a mid level Sony head unit...

The two speakers in the rear from home would have worked ok if they where wired in parallel thus dropping the resistance across the pair.
House speakers are usually 8 ohm and cars around 4 ohm

Makes sense, be good to get a unit with rear view camera and sat nav.etc:
Maybe just four good speakers and two tweeters is all I need for my hearing aids
but I still wouldn't have camera and sat nav. :?
