Track day insurance

Hey peoples.

Apologies if this thread is in the wrong forum (mods feel free to move it if you feel the urge).

Thinking of doing a track day at Phillip Island in Vic. My insurance won't cover me on a track. Has anyone found another company I can buy track day insurance through? If so, any feedback on it?

Cheers.

Not sure if you can, unless it's a track day car. Could be quite expensive.

Also I'd be careful with any warranty you car may have, could be void if you do a track day.

You'd need a specialist insurer like just cars or shannons. If they won't do it, a broker will be able to put you in touch with some. You will most likely need a CAMS licence and so forth before they will touch you though.

Each case is different, my cosmo was with shannons for years and they were fine on any mods as long as it was legal and drags, but not so keen on tracks as they thought that a 400kw rotary in a 1200 - 1300kg car being chucked around a track was a bit too much of a risk!

Yes and like I said outside the insurance check with you warranty, whether it's still covered by the new one or some used car warranty, if you blow the engine or wreck the gear box I'm pretty sure you're on your own.

Makes me want to keep my coupe when I get it running again, a nice banger for track day stuff or drags I could still legally drive to the track.

You could be better off getting a cheap earlier model Lancer and using it?
