rego check

So in preparation of the new turbo laws in nsw, I thought I'd check out some RA's and when I did a rego check on them (the free one done on the RTA website) they said "year" Mitsui lancer "sportback" or "sedan" and then my car was special case and is listed as a 2011 Mitsubishi lancer sportback sedan, so I was wondering if there is way to make sure cars are RA's and not just have been an es model with an engine conversion etc. etc.

Thanks guys

yeah check there VIN numbers on the side door when u open the drivers door that will tell u if its an RA or not ..... generally though you can always tell. because if you know lancers well you can tell when one is a fake it will miss the little details like the allumium bonnet which is lighter than the ES VR VRX Aspire steel bonnets , and look inside the cabin to see if the trannys sst, they are the three obvious ones to check ....

I thought a vin check would still say "lancer" and yeah, but isn't it easy enough to get a replacement bonnet and how can you distinguish between cvt and sst?

VINs are specific to models version of that lancer my10 VRX is different to a MY11 VRX

sst will look like this

nar just write the VIN on a piece of paper and pop on to REDBOOK and it will tell u what is it , but by law the caryard will still need to advertise it as an ES because that is what it it ......

take for expample denzza's rx lance , if he were to sell that with the turbo on it , it will still be an RX turbo it wont be a VRX or a Ralliart he still has to advertise it as an RX because thats what it was and still is

There's no way NA Lancers can be converted to become exactly like Ralliarts, just as Ralliarts themselves cannot be modded to mimic an Evos. I do know that it's hard to distinguish cosmetically enhanced CJs from the real deal as they can be changed to vented bonnets and dual exhausts, but internally, it's a giveaway. Like what was mentioned, the SST shifter looks a lot different from the manual and CVT of non-turbos. And if you can be bothered stooping down the rear axle, there is a driveshaft that reveals the 4WD system.
