Your spelling is exemplary .... it's your punctuation that sucks.

Dean, you don't get sarcasm, do you?
VPS are perfectly fine. Shared servers would be the last on the list for me.
You also might want to get up to speed with the latest.... phpbb3.x is the currently maintained release. we're still on phpbb2.x

As for what's wrong with this server? A few things, however being that I'm just stand-in for Mattigins (whilst he is overseas), I wont be making wholesale changes and mods. I'm not sure what has changed in the last month or so, but the server has had it's moments of being laggy due to memory exhaustion during peak periods, however no idea if the increased load is wholly due to increased patronage of the site, or some of the other anomalies I've observed, that could contributing to the overall load.
I've done as much tinkering to keep the site up without totally crashing, as it was doing in the recent past, however on the down side I've had to constrain the number of people that can be on at any given time during peak times. It's a trade off, until a permanent fix can be put in place, which needs Matt's authorisation.
So there you have it a nutshell, we're aware of what the issues are, t now a matter of fixing those permanently.

Maybe we should delete the rest of the internet? That'd speed up the forums.
Trust me, I know what I'm talking about and know everything about CCJ's server.

Seems to be issue with retrieving the who's online data, I was in the Admin section earlier and these was a big SQL dump where the online admin data should be.

I have not had a chance to have a good look at it and decipher what is causing the dump.

It happens when a post it deleted or edited incorrectly. It's happened in the past. :)

I've fixed Irvin'g's post that was hosing up the CCS. :) not so hard, mods. :)

The AJAX code that makes up that panel, scrapes it's data from the above page. I'm not sure how often the AJAX code scrapes the real "who's online" data, so there might be a delay of anything from 5-15 minutes. no idea how it's been coded and if there is a bug in that AJAX code, as the issue of users not appearing has been a long standing issue, that I've even noticed that I sometimes don't appear. *shrug*

PM me with specifics. Please do not post anything relating to the dump publically for security reasons. :)

also the SQL daemon has been running since the March 29 so it wasn't the SQL daemon that died.
