OK time to interject.
As Chief Buyer, I've known about TaoBao for years.
One of the members in VIC is from PRC and has been buying things from TaoBao on behalf of VIC members as well. If you msg me I'll put you in touch with him.
To buy directly, you can use what are known as TaoBao agents who act as middlemen and charge you a commission on the transaction.
Actually if you know of Rainbow Pen in Malaysia, he doesn't manufacture any of his own things either. He simply buys from TaoBao and on sells at a mark up. Anything you see on his site, you can get from TaoBao if you look hard enough.
So you might be wondering why I've not shared this with the wider club community.
1. Product quality is usually PISS poor. In this game you get what you pay for.
2. So part of the process, the middleman or TaoBao Agent will order on your behalf, so item goes from Chinese Seller to the agent who is also in China. They will then open up the item take a picture of it, before repacking and sending it to you.
Now this repacking isn't great and if there's a fault now when you recieve it, who do you blame? The seller or the agent?
Remember the agent isn't in the business of car parts, the agents handle purchases of anything from rear wings, rice cookers to lingerie.
They aren't specialists at packing car parts.
3. Which leads us to the final problem. When the item reaches you, if there is a breakage or scratch, who do you blame? If the electronic part you buy doesn't work to spec, you can't write to the seller since they don't know who the nuts you are. They will only know the agent and fark if they care, they've got their cut already.
There is NO Accountability in this system.
TaoBao is great for stuff like stickers, clothes and lingerie, NOT fragile parts like wings and front lips nor electronics.
So please be wary when consider buying from TaoBao.
