I recently had a check on the car's papers and it actually indicated 4-speed automatic in transmission type. Like heck, I'd never buy a car with a gearbox like that in this day and age.
If it's stamped as 4B11 and actual engine is 4B12, that's just pathetic.

The easiest way to see what engine you have is to take a picture of the rear of it - ie. in the space between the back of the engine and the firewall, with the camera lens facing forward . Here are two pictures of the different type of casting detail:
Ozie's 2.0 4B11 (1.8L 4B10 also shares the same block, hence it is mentioned in the cast)
This is Mitza B's 2.4 4B12. I have taken a picture of the rear of my engine and it is exactly the same as this - 4B1 #1 - where I believe the #1 is the cast/mould number.
If it says 4B10 11 - then it is 2.0 and if it says 4B1 ... then it is a 2.4.
The most important question (which hasn't been answered by drake89) - is whether or not he was sold an 09 model and received an 08 - then there's a problem - but if he knowingly bought an 08 clearance VRX and later found out that the 2.4 only came after 09, then that's his bad luck..... nothing that the dealer or mitsu has done wrong there, he just didn't do enough research before buying it..... Maybe the dealer was a bit sneaky and didn't make it obvious that the My09 had a few significant changes over the 08 in the VRX - but nothing beats your own research.
EDIT: I found the intro thread where the issue was first discussed - looks like you've been told you were getting a 2.4 MY09, but didn't - but then again, looks like you didn't pay for a MY09 either.... When things at new/used car dealers appear too good to be true - they generally are!

I was tempted to get a 2.4 but the price would get me closer to a Falcon XR6, driveaway at 35K that time. In buying something, I always tend to upscale for a little more money, but this time, I tried to control myself. The 2.0 may not beat bogandores in a straight line, but it has enough to beat red lights safely and carry 4 people without much struggle.

you are right, its not really in the .4 but all the other extras that come with the vr-x..but yes quite a large difference in price...my vrx is only 2 months old and i'm shattered cause i would of preffered to buy the RX and spend some money doing it up from the get go..instead of having to wait till my finances inprove from the purchase lol
long live the japanese way of thinking and engineering.
Which of the VRX options makes the price worth it? I have spent $4K on my boggy-ES and it is now;
lowered, with VRX rims, steering wheels controls, 7" touch screen, iPod mount, 1000w mono-block amp, 1500w sub, all Dynamat-ted, Fogs, side and front skirts courtesy of Shadows, factory boot lip, tint, exhaust, K&N etc
The only thing I reckon I am missing is the 0.4ltr capacity and maybe the auto unlock feature.. the other stuff (auto sensing rubbish) is fluff IMHO.
I paid $16K for the car (1 year old) and my $4K contribution brings it up to less than the cheapest drive-away price for an ES...
Are flappy paddles the make-or-break feature !?!?!?!

I agree with squala, I was teetering on buying an ex-govt. FG G6 Falcon for the same purchase (on road) price as a VRX...
The premium sound system is somewhat moot as my $2K headunit, speakers, amp and sub would destroy the OEM premium Rockford system...
A G6 would beat out the VRX for that price...
But, its just my 2c
P.S. I don't regret the price/value/community you get even buying an ES... I say that because you certainly don't get too much from the Ford Forums unless you possess something a little more substantial/special.
